Wolff was a bit under-emotional upon receiving his arm back in my view.

Overall a bit too many stills in the animation, which takes out the intensity. It's in moments like these that I wish the show had Mushoku Tensei's budget and animation.

Erhart is Hawke's older brother? Didn't see that coming .

So, yeah, Sei has special magic glitter and is somehow stronger than the strongest mage in the kingdom. If that doesn't indicate she's the real Saint, I don't know what does

Is that Yusuke Kobayashi as the Grand Magus/Yuri? I don't usually hear him in those kinds of roles. And now he's Sei's magic teacher .

Visiting a royal court has its perks when you get the full beauty and massage treatment! Even a royal garb befitting a Saint .

Of course Hawke is the one escorting Sei to court, and he would be remiss not to compliment her on how beautiful she looks .

Kyle is totally going to force Aira into a situation she's not prepared for that Sei will have to bail them out to prove she's the Saint, right ?

The guy is a true idiot. The king is right that it might affect the succession. After all is said and done, Kyle may no longer be in line to succeed the throne, all due to his ignorant stupidity.

Why did he think Aira was the saint in the first place? Because Aira was younger and "cuter"? The kingdom will be in trouble with such a foolish prince.

The other "victim" coming from Kyle's actions is Aira. So far, ok she hasn't shown anything or even said 1 word yet, Aira seems like a decent person; however, all these actions by Kyle could end up tarnishing her reputation and status.

Aira's special ability is being able to learn multiple skills quickly. That makes me think that she might be more a hero/champion than a saint, so the summoning instead of summoning 2 saints might have summoned a hero and a saint.

At this point, it's no question that Sei is the saint. She currently has the potential to be the most powerful magician in the world and by a far margin as well. Kyle is pretty stupid not to realize how bad it is to make such a powerful magician dislike him.

I was trying to figure out what song the Opening song reminded me of. I think I'm reminded a little of a slow OP/ED song from Ayashi no Ceres or Fushigi Yuugi (not sure where). The song feels a bit old school.

I think I'm actually enjoying the anime more than the novel which is unusual. The anime has nice pauses at appropriate moments during scenes.

The whole apology thing kinda pisses me off. It shows they know they wronged her, but also that they don't care about that unless she's powerful enough to be useful to them.

And the way they went about it is manipulative. Pressuring her to ask for a reward without giving her the opportunity to really think about it. It's lucky she came up with something good.

In a way, it was a bit unfair for her how long they took to apologize. However, if they acted too soon, it would have meant embarrassing the crown prince. It was a fine line they had to travel, and they did offer her whatever she needed.

As for pressuring her for a reward, the king already asked her about it before in the Royal Library. She had plenty of time to think about it then until the point they met again in court. She should have expected him to bring it up again in court, as he specifically stated that he will properly thank her in court. And yes, when you apologize, you have to properly try to make amends depending on your position and what you can give. The king is trying to do exactly that.

As always, the most blame goes to the son, Kyle. Yet, he still hasn't learned his lesson. The king did mention in this episode that if he still keeps this up, it might affect the line of succession. I expect Kyle to be removed as next in line after a few more episodes.

I think that's exactly it. Kyle saw the younger cuter summoned girl and immediately assumed she had to be the saint based on her looks alone.

It takes more than time to decide on a good reward, and it's all about the king's convenience: "go where and when we tell you, participate into the ceremony we want so we can show you off to our people, pick something we can give you so I can feel better about the whole thing."

Her actual desires, expressed and implied, counted for very little.

No. The prince's rudeness was just a cherry on top of a suck cake. Even if she'd been treated as a saint from the start, she'd still have been shanghaied into their war with no hope of return. It's the same for Aira.

And what if she hadn't been the saint? Would it have been alright to kidnap her then? Because I'm pretty sure the apology wouldn't have been forthcoming at all then.

It is the type of society they live in. He is a king, and this is a feudal system. What we consider as normal is not what they will consider as normal, so you make do with what is available. You cannot put your moral compass in a situation that is different from our society. And yes, he gave her plenty of time to think about a reward, most likely weeks or even months.

Unfortunately, this was a summons. In a feudal and magic kingdom as such, do you really think about where the summons come from? You need a saint, you summon a saint. Yes, she has been isekai'd into a new world, but they are not keeping her prisoner. She has the option to go wherever she wants, and they have provided for her the best they can. Unfortunately, there is no return spell, and she understands that.

As for apologies, he is the king, after all. He is not going to apologize for every little mistake his son makes. It is like (using real world example as a fictitious example for perspective, so please don't take it seriously) asking Joe Biden as President of the US to apologize for every mistake his son Hunter Biden makes. Or asking Queen Elizabeth to apologize every time Prince Harry makes a mistake. It is just not feasible or logical unless the situation calls for it.

Only downside so far is that the show hasn't really given Aira a chance to do much of anything. Obviously this is Sei's show, but there should be some screentime and voiced lines to share here . Probably focusing too much on her (don't want to end up like the Prince here), but she feels like an underdog. Gets yanked from her life as much as Sei and yet is stuck with the attentions of an idiot unlike Sei who at least is getting a good support system and friendships around her. This girl could be dragged down with the Prince without ever getting to say a line in the show...

In the end Sei is getting some respect and a lot that is deserved. Not that she didn't have respect from those around her. She is building up a large assortment of potential love interests after all . But good to get the King in on this and put a serious threat towards his son if he continues to be stupid.

One thing I will give the Prince is that it wasn't beyond belief to presume Aira was the saint. This was a spell to summon a saint. One or both of the people summoned was probably going to be a saint . But that's a pretty minor point to give him since he's done nothing but be stupid the whole time.

At least the Saint is now clear to more than just the audience .

I said it takes "more than time", not "more time".

Like I said, they understand they wronged her. It shows. And they don't care. That makes the apology ring false.

Or maybe it's the show I find manipulative? It's like it's saying "Look, they apologized! They're good guys!". But I look at the situation, and while I don't think they're the worst (plenty of worse summoners out there), I don't think they're good guys either, on balance.

Her understanding a very simple fact in no way absolves them.

ThereÂ’s an ongoing manga-original spinoff that covers AiraÂ’s POV and what she was doing this whole time.

Iirc the source novels are more Sei-centric, not much focus on Aira there.

It may not have been beyond belief to presume Aira was the saint, but there is the implication he based his assumption on Aira being the younger, cuter girl.

That's correct though I've not read that much of it. IIRC the WN/LN is like 90% Sei, 10% background characters mostly talking about Sei.

Given that the very fate of the kingdom was/is at stake, jumping to any conclusions at all wasn't smart.

If the dumb prince knew anything about Japanese he would have jumped to the conclusion that Sei was the saint from the start. (The "sei" in "seijo" (saint) is the same kanji as Sei's name). Then poor Aira would likely have been tossed away and fared far worse.

But anyway, it's not that big a deal. In a way, it's just a plot device to allow Sei to have a more low key life and more autonomy than she would have gotten otherwise. She didn't have any choice about the actual summoning or the immediate reaction there but pretty much everything since has been her choice.

Only because she is cooperative. Especially now that they are fairly sure she's the saint, do you really think she has the option to go wherever she wants? Very likely not.

Also being intelligent enough to know she cannot be returned doesn't make it any less of a bitter pill to swallow. She's just lucky to apparently have no close ties back in our world of which to mourn the loss, easing her acceptance.

So not only does Sei get to be personally taught by the Grand Magus, she gets the classroom all to herself. She's definitely getting some special treatment as the Saint .

Yuri seems...kind of shady, at least in the respect of someone who only cares about what they're interested in and will go to great lengths to study them, but it seems like he won't go too far with Sei less Hawke and his brother have his head .

Yuri is a pretty tough teacher, and a little sinister-looking at times, but Sei isn't just going to give up! And with a little practical training, she seems to be getting much better. Although she also assumed this was all for her going out in the field, which wasn't Yuri's intent, but seems inevitable otherwise .

Hawke sees Sei and the first thing he does is caress her face and hair while looking longingly at her which almost has Sei's heart burst out of her chest. Can Hawke be any more obvious about his feelings? I mean, short of a confession, it's pretty obvious. Sei can't be that dense .

Sei as the Saint has to learn how to be a proper lady of the court, which means etiquette training, tight corsets, getting fancy dresses and her hair done up, and dancing lessons...and while it is a lot, I can't argue that Sei doesn't look good in that dress, or when she and Hawke get to share a romantic dance together. Noble occasions can be stuffy and boring, but it helps to have someone you want to go with by your side .

So Liz is a daughter of a marquis and knew who Sei was the whole time, but she still became friends with Sei on her own terms and not because Sei was the Saint. That's friendship, right there .

Liz is Kyle's fiance? She could do so much better! She even apologizes for him like his dad did, when he still hasn't apologized to Sei himself. And not only that, she is feeling emotionally distraught because he's spending all his time with Aira instead of her (and she's not the only girl going through that at the Royal Magic Academy). Poor Liz .

Although it's kind of ironic that Sei and Aira are both going through their own Reverse Harem situations, albeit Sei has only romantic inclinations towards Hawke while it seems like Aira might have several potential suitors (either because they're interested in her or she just doesn't see the issue with interacting with "taken" men). Must be those Japanese genes .

recently got around to see this series, i like it. its not as funny as reincarnated bookworm but the story is similar enough that its rather enjoyable to watch. Sei is lucky that arrogant prince saw Aira as a potential power mate for when he might become king. saves Sei the trouble of a harsh battle and lets her have nice relaxing days.

While the part about Japan being more relaxed is a bit ironic, it still holds true compared to a noble medieval/renaissance society, so Aria should really take a hint here.

That being said, while Liz could definitely do better from a personality PoV, she couldn't do better when you consider her standing. A Marquess is right under a duke, so her options are rather limited, as marrying below her own standing would not only have negative effects for her, but also her children.

Not really no.
The fake saint would loose, with a substantial part of troops being lost in the process, only making subsequent battles harder.

she might get some power but it wont compare to Sei. im not fooled that Aira is the true one, Sei clearly is the one and that prince will pay dearly for his quick judgement. it didnt help that the appraiser/caster fainted upon calling both of them into their world. he might have identified Sei properly as the true saint so it only makes that prince look more of a fool for his snap judgement.

Aira does serve as a decoy to let Sei do what she has to do now. i don't think either would like to be on the battlefield in the first place. Sei will show her abilities and put more doubt on Aira as the true saint. not sure how that will impact the prince or Aira herself but i just have to see.

Well, that is assuming that Kyle is still going to be crown prince when all is said and done. It has already been hinted that Kyle will lose his crown prince status because of the saint ordeal. Imagine Kyle becoming king and being vengeful at the true Saint Sei(ya)[ok, I just had to do that ]. The kingdom could be in turmoil if that becomes the case. So yeah, Kyle can easily lose his crown prince status because of his stupidity, not to mention have such a stupid guy become king of a kingdom in the first place.

In which case, Liz will be better off no longer connected to Kyle.
