Qwenthur and his risky thinking as usual. This guy's like a daredevil imo on the battlefield.

Getting used to the new OP song now. I still kinda like the old one though.

Differing taste I suppose, it took me awhile to get used to the old OP but I absolutely love the new OP right out the gate.

This. I didn't really like the old OP the first few times I heard that, but it grew on me. The new OP however, won me over the first time I heard that.

Yeah, the new OP is fine....but I don't think it's as good as the first one.

As to the episode, another nice recovery for Qwenthur. This was actually a pretty dangerous situation. The layers of traps put in place could easily have killed Milinda at some point. The trap location, the wire mesh, the freaking guy with a gun on top of the Object!? Damn, she could have died in a ton of ways this week.

End of the two-parter.

So this time the enemy boss isn't another Object, but rather another "Qwenthur" so to speak.

Although unlike Qwenthur, Sladder uses more elaborate and high risky expensive traps, using both the Super Railgun and the experimental reactor as 'feigns'.

So yes we finally get to talk about using the spare parts of the Objects, rather than the whole Object itself, to kill other Objects. However as noted, not one of them actually succeeded- the only Object kills in this arc were by other Objects. But whether it works or not isn't important, so long as the potential is there. (Also note, the Legend of the Student of the Battlefield begins now...)

"The price of your tits are too high!"

The piercing stares...

Yeah, I think the potential showed would be good enough at any rate. Without some serious assistance there were several ways that Milinda would have been killed off in this episode. Killing the Elite piloting the Object is effective enough at removing that threat for the moment. They would have been in trouble if Honeysuckle had taken his plans a tier further and actually had troops ready at a calculated landing point.

Though the reality is that the only Objects outright destroyed were done so by other Objects. So the status quo is hardly overturned through this situation.

Don't forget, Baby Magnum was already half damaged as well with her mobility severely hampered.

But the MDC was operating on shoestring supply and without support. That's the difference between this:

and this:

In any case... why couldn't we have Honeysuckle as the protaginst? He actually has a vision beyond just oh tits!

The MDC's trap managed to disable the Baby Magnum, and it all ended with a tense standoff between Quenser and Sladder. In a classic hero-villain comparisons that Kamachi likes so much, Sladder draws a lot of parallels to Quenser. He's an Object designer trying to come up with ways to destroy Objects without one of his own to further his personal goals. Sladder's style is trying to use the different parts that make up an Object separately, reducing a lot the overall cost.

Still, most of the credit should go to the MDC's Object, the Break Carrier or Lisolette, as the heavy damage it caused on the Baby Magnum was the main reason his trap was so succesful.

Eh, can it really be called a shoestring budget if they have enough to build all those armaments including a whole Object?

the thing that actually makes me like the new opening is because of the visual.. it's more dynamic than the previous one

I don't really get this arc though.. but I still enjoy it even if there is no direct confrontation against a real object right now
Using Object parts to fight Object is clearly a feasible idea.. Qwenthur might use it in the future

The end talk is very good I think.. I can't remember the time when four of them could talk casually like friends.. Frolaytia just seems want to keep these two guys for her only those minuses though.. and she could mention that "boob-fondling" without blushing anymore
Seems like she and Milinda have come to a certain agreement about the incident

well, looking forward for the next arc
I really enjoy this more.. nice adaptation from JC Staff

Brass: Hmm... A request from the Boys unit for immediate deployment to the next battlefield. Guess they want to make up for not blowing up an Object for a while. Approved!

Meanwhile...

Politicians: Dammit! Why couldn't they just kill Sladder Honeysuckle, WTF name is that! Now we'll have to deal with this political shitstorm!

Heavy Object... unique brand of military competence shone once again this episode.

-So Baby Magnum can shoot through mountain... but not buildings.

- When did they even had the time to set up the reactor.

- Object software is evidently written by a bunch of drunk monkeys.

- How did Sladder got from outside the blast zone to the top of Baby Magnum and even set up the net in like 30 seconds?

- Sladder:"I want to show that you can destroy Objects without using one!" Qwenthur: :|

- Sladder talks how he's going to shoot Qwenthur at first opportunity, instead of doing it.

As delightfully absurd as always. And of course somehow they still get no respect after all they've done on this mission. Being Qwenthur is suffering.

They were also working under a serve deadline so their tactics had to be more risky than they normally would be.

It's like a portable spare reactor of sort, that's how they've been powering all those guns in the previous episodes but with no trace left behind.

Watch the scene again, you can heard the sound of something launched and attached. That was the steel net.

Sladder came on-board later.

Yeah but Qwenthur's methods aren't exactly able to be replicated reliably.

This one has an explanation in the novel.
Spoiler for Volume 2 Chapter 3 - Baby Magnum trying to get a shot at the Break Carrier's spare railgun through the buildings:
And Sladder not shooting Quenser is also easy: he's not a soldier or even a battlefield student like Quenser; he's an Object Designer who likely doesn't have any experience fighting (even normal soldiers, who lack combat experience due to overreliance in Objects at least have training). He got cocky when he managed to knock Quenser to the ground and his shot hit by pure luck.

Several people (guerrillas, terrorists, etc) have already tried to fight Objects with infantry inspired by Quenser and Heivia's initial victories, as Flide mentioned. They didn't really succeeed, so Sladder is trying a different approach.
