Sazae-San perhaps?

~ Each episode consists of 3 separate 'skits'
per half hour. There are well over 1000 episodes and is the
longest running anime series to date. ~

I would guess on Doraemon... It's been on for decades, and has an insane number of shown episodes

I would also guess Doraemon. Did you know they are still making new episodes of that?

The same goes for Sazae-San.

I guess we could wait for someone from Japan to tell us the truth about that.

Dude, by the time DBZ ended Sazae-San and Doraemon were just getting warmed up. Ya know, considering how long those two series have been running, it's kinda amazing that I haven't heard more on them. Of course then again, I had never heard of One Piece before a couple of months ago either. ^_^;;

May I inquire as to what's so special about both of those series that they're so long? Aren't they at something like 1000+ episodes each or something?

Sazae-san is the longest anime series (although it's not really considered "anime" as such in Japan). It has been on for like 30+ years, which is why it's the longest. After that is Chibi-Maruko-chan and then Doraemon. All these animes have been on for many years.

As for "regular" anime series, if you count all the eps of Dragon Ball/Z/GT together, then you get something like 500 some eps for it all. The longest after that would be Detective Conan.

One Piece and Inu-Yasha are slowly climbing the ladder though. Sailor Moon had 200 eps though and that hasn't been beat by either of those shows yet.

Hey, why wasn't Sazae-san technically considered anime? Was there a reason? I've never seen it so I don't know.

Sazae-san has been on the air since 1969, then comes Doraemon since 1973. Sazae-san would be close to 2000 episodes. From what I've been told you can equate it to The Simpsons.

From the animenfo description, it seems similar to The Fairly Oddparents.
Quote:
Nobi Nobita is a 4th-grade boy in Tokyo. One day, a round, blue cat-style robot (minus ears) pops up in his desk drawer. Nobita's great-great-grandson (or something) lives in the 22nd Century— but thanks to Nobita's mistakes, the entire family is living in poverty. To rectify this, Nobita's descendent is sent Doraemon back to the past, to help prevent Nobita from making mistakes. Of course this is a difficult task since Nobita is the weakest and least intelligent child in his class. Doraemon does, however, have a 4-dimensional pocket on his front, which contains cool gadgets from the future. With these toys, Doraemon will try to help Nobita. Unfortunately, Nobita also has the bad habit of misusing Doraemon's gadgets and landing himself in yet more trouble?
Doraemon and Saza-san are both have family appeal with non-continuous plots which allow the shows to go one as long as they are ratings monsters.

I still don't get why anyone wouldn't say Sazae-san isn't anime.

Even though the creator died...(RIP Fujiko Fujio) there are still his people who continue his work...I forget their names though.
By the way both Sazae-san and Doraemon rule. I grew up with those shows...

As far as Sazae -san is not really considered an anime... (although I personally would refute this) might have something to do with the fact that it's pretty normal everyday life, not some crazy stuff like Doraemon and such....but who knows?

But yes both Sazae-san and Doraemon rules!

For regulars, I think Naruto will surpass 200 episode mark.
