I usually like a few books at time, which keeps my interest better...I can read a bit of one, then a bit of another, and so on. Mostly because the internet ruined my attention span, I'm building it back up though. Right now, I'm reading:
"Pretties" by Scott Westerfeld "The Last Hawk" by Catherine Asaro "Thrilling Wonder Stories, vol 1" edited by Winston Engle "Apocalypse Culture" edited by Adam Parfrey "Otaku: Japan's Database Animals" by Hiroki Azuma |

Currently, I'm reading "In Cold Blood" by Capote, and I don't know what it is about the book. It's well written, but it's very, very haunting, and I have no idea if it's just the subject matter at hand, the way it is handled, or the way Capote writes. Very descriptive, that man.

I just finished The Mysterious Stranger by Mark Twain. I don't know what made me read it, because I'm not exactly a fan of his better-known works (I wanted to pull my hair out reading Tom Sawyer in high school), but I loved it as much as anything I've ever read. It's a fascinating, gripping read, and it's made me seriously rethink my opinion of Twain as a writer. It's incredibly witty and intriguing, and the social commentary was incredible and a bit sad and scary. The ending is one of the most shocking -- but fitting and thought-provoking -- things I've ever read. Unfortunately, since it's an unfinished work and the version I read was heavily edited, it's also made me spend $25 on the manuscripts. :/ |
