In the thread for the anime in the FMP section in the retired forums area, Gotoh and the VAs were standing with a poster declaring the new anime project. This poster featured Sousuke, Kaname, Tessa, and the LAEVATEIN, not the Arbalest.
So yeah, most likely a continuation of the novels, not a reboot. Now excuse me while I go back to bouncing around the room.

Days like this can still surprise you. Looks likely that some of the oldest areas of some of the oldest anime forums (including this very one here) are about to become thriving for the first time in approx five years. It all goes to show that for those who wait good times must logically come, today they came in abundance.

What strange times we live in that anime from 10 years ago will get a continuation. Fans crying for this to get a continuation has been a bigger meme longer than the whole Index III debacle.
What exciting news.

Really, man? They did Fumoffu and Second Raid so they are far more capable (and frankly, far better executed; something about Gonzo's take felt oddly sluggish) in handling the material.

Euphonium is a good series no matter what you think. Yes, they didn't worki on mecha since then but still.
Although it's definetely not KyoAni. I forgot, that they mentioned "studio from Tokyo animating new FMP". KyoAni doesn't fit this description.

Like the info said, the studio is based in Tokyo and must be able to do handdrawn mechs. So, like Sheba said, Bones or Sunrise are the strong candidates (many other studios rely on CG mechs nowadays). Although, they can still surprise us by choosing a studio that’s still new to handdrawn mecha genre.
