what is it? can i upgrade it by a program or does it have to be done manually by buying a new card and putting it in the hardware?
edit: the one i have it Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection. is it good?

if you're trying to upgrade your drivers, updates are usually available if they exist on the site of the manufacturer. For your intel device I would do a download search here
