Fern and Stark put up... as good a fight as they could, but she's an ages old demon and her mana alone obstructs most of the spells Fern can cast. Fern manages to nearly get her by increasing her shots' density, but she missed the heart and then Macht basically just turns the area into gold to get around Denken's countercurse by making it a war of attrition, which he can't possibly win. So Denken goes to help Frieren since she's their last hope, but fails. However, while being gold, Frieren remembers the time she was trapped with a barrier and her party helped her visualize how to overcome it and took away requirements like food or oxygen, to which she calls them monsters. Then she wakes up after having finished analyzing the memories, being more than capable of dispelling it. It's time to go demon-slaying again. Cue the DOOM music.

So "Di Agolze, from this moment forth, is no longer a curse"? Does she mean she'll render it to a mere spell?

Anyway, yeah, Stark, Fern and Denken will be fine now too because Frieren will save them all. Looking forward to it.

I'm more surprised the Demon King wanted co-existence. I'm less surprised that resulted in mankind being knocked down to 1/3 of its original populace.

That could mean a lot of things, like forcing humans to comply to his demands or face eradication.

It sounds like semantics to me. You could reword world domination to say co-existence too.

If you're after world domination, then as long as you follow the demon lord you're co-existing since anyone who doesn't want to coexist will be dead!

Domination is kind of co-existence. That's not semantics, that's just plain fact.

Match didn't seek domination. He just wanted to understand human feelings. But his attempts to understand resulted in a ton of people getting killed. The demon king could be the same.

Macht's attempts to "understand" included threatening two children to fight one another with their lives, just so Macht can understand hatred and malice.
By human standards, that is experimentation, not empathy, which is what people really want.

You could apply the same logic to the Demon King and the same would apply. In his attempt for "coexistence", he could have attempted world domination and genocide, because if all the dissenters are killed or coerced, then technically humans will be forced to "coexist" with the demons.

No one ever said the Demon King wanted to understand humans, by the way. Freiren only said the Demon King wanted coexistence. Evidently he sought it through means other than compassion and understanding given most of the elves and a large portion of humanity were wiped out.

It's already well established that demos can't feel human emotions. They don't feel empathy or anything like that. So it's a given neither Macht or the Demon King would feel any of that. But it doesn't mean they wish to dominate. Clearly that's not what they were looking for.

We don't know what the Demon King was doing exactly, but it probably was something similar to what Macht was doing.

Macht said he doesn't like fighting either and look at where he's at now.

Sousou no Friren updated to 99.

Frieren and Solitar end up split up from the rest because the later was concerned that they might team up against Macht since humans have better coordination than demons before calling Friren cold hearted for leaving Denken against a Great Sage like Macht. Frieren is confident he can win, and right as Solitar starts going on about how he has no chance she stops herself upon realizing that she was being arrogant and that's already led to a lot of demons being killed. So she ultimately decides to stop playing around and just blast Friren with her most efficient Spell that pierces her defense, and she reveals she knows Frieren is restricting her mana just like Fern. When Freiren brings up they must have fought, Solitar tells her she killed the both of them which angers her just enough that she copies her piercing spell and blasts her right back.

Manga updated to 101. The duel between the two continue as they come up with plays and counterplays.

Woooooooooot! Victory for mankind! Demons can go suck a rock! Macht of El Dorado got defeated by his pupil, Frieren broke the whole gold spell over the area returning all humans and animals, etc. back to life. And even Solitär got done in, not by Frieren but by Fern and true to her german name she shot from very afar and hit right into the core. 2 Sage level demons destroyed and a town saved from a curse, good job, heroes. Only downside is Denken will die, but at least he got his dream fulfilled, so he got that before he dies.
