Western envoys trapped in Yemen

The American, British and European Union ambassadors to Yemen are trapped in an embassy surrounded by gunmen angry about efforts by Arab mediators to ease President Ali Abdullah Saleh out of power

US, UK, and Euro envoys rescued by chopper

A helicopter plucked Western and Arab diplomats from the embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Yemen on Sunday after the mission was surrounded by armed supporters of Yemen's embattled president, officials from the Emirates and Yemen's government told CNN.

At least 10 militants attacked a naval air station in the coastal city of Karachi late Sunday, leading to several explosions and an hours-long gun battle with Pakistani forces that killed four naval officials, Pakistani officials and witnesses said.

"The naval commandos and the naval marines are tightening their grips on them," Pakistani navy spokesman Irfan Ul Haq told CNN around 5:30 a.m. Monday. "The situation is under control."

Besides the four dead, Haq said that nine navy personnel were injured in the attack on the grounds of the Mehran base. He did not have the number of militants who died or were injured.

Sporadic gunfire could still be heard around 6:15 a.m. Monday, said Talha Hashmi, a witness at the scene. By then, though, he said there were no visible flames or smoke coming from the base, as had been reported earlier.

The violence began around 11 p.m. (2 p.m. ET) Sunday, when 10 to 15 suspected terrorists launched their assault carrying hand grenades, automatic weapons and rockets, Haq said.

Two witnesses -- Amjad Bashir and Hashmi -- reported at least ten explosions in the subsequent hours, including two within 15 minutes of each other about five and a half hours after the assault began.

Each blast was typically followed by a sustained exchange of gunfire, Hashmi said. He said that several of the explosions -- thought to be the result of at least one military aircraft and a fuel tank catching fire and releasing plumes of smoke -- were particularly large.

The damaged plane is a P-3C Orion, according to Haq. Supplied by the U.S. government, the P-3C Orion is a "four-engine, turbo-prop, anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft," according to the U.S. Navy's website.
Things are really going to hell in Pakistan if a major navel air base was successfully attacked.

Apparently, they (Pakistan Taliban claiming the credit) captured Chinese military officials.... starting to imagine a joint Chinese-NATO force who has completely had it with these jackasses

The desert heat and the lack of omega-3 from fishes damaged their braincells. They are just mentally retarded.

I thought they buy AK ripoffs from Norinco in the Chinese black market. If that is true, maybe that is reason why they didn't arm the Uighurs last year?

They are probably pissed at how the media forgets about them and focuses on the rapture instead. So they are now trying to get back in the spot light. For max effect, they should have poked at the Mother Russia too.

But seriously, I dont think there would ever be case of join force between China and Nato, at least not at this level.

Tornado kills at least 89 in Joplin, Missouri

If God does exist, it seems that he is mad at some weirdo evangelist cheating people out of their money.

If this happens yesterday, the rapture clowns would have a field day with it or they may suicidal depressed for not being chosen. Russia is not please to have China surpass it in cost cutting method, so now they try a new one of their own.

This story justs irritates me.
I understand the need for security at a school prom, but the TSA...really?
What the heck does a school prom have to do with Transportation Safety?

TSA Patdowns At Santa Fe Prom
http://www.koat.com/r-video/27979990/detail.html

Does the Chinese government do this kind of thing to their people?
I'm just curious.

Its hard not to think "hmmm, the region of the US with statistically smallest acceptance of global climate change is the part getting its ass kicked by extreme weather (droughts in Texas, mega-tornadoes and floods in the Bible Belt, the rising trend in numbers and energy in hurricanes despite what the idiot cartoonist drew). But that wouldn't be scientific to think that
