That was a pretty good episode. I was so not expecting to have cameos from the Mach 5 and Chim-Chim in this series!

So, does Speed Racer really share a universe with Yatterman? I shouldn't be surprised since both of them are older style anime, but still! Also, did Speed, Spritle, and the family all die or get killed off by Yatterman and only Chim-Chim is left? That's so sad. He looks pretty old, hopefully he and the Mach 5 will have some good drives together. Though, I kind of hoped that they would do the classic theme song at least in the background, just having them there was awesome. Also, his GoGoGo line was classic.

Galina is shaping up to be a good Yatterman replacement. I'm thinking that Alouette will be too once she meets her dad again.

Poor Goro, he tries his best, but those pesky Dorombo gang just keeps messing him up. And now he's been thrown in prison. His mechanized parts seem to shut down every time he tries to say his daughter's name, and now he's beginning to have flashbacks of her thanks to a skylark (her namesake). Any my goodness, was that the result of him getting knocked into the sea, or did the Yatter lords do it, but he's lost his entire bottom half! What did they do to Alouette's dad?

The Dorombo gang has finally found their way to the capital, but I'm guessing their going to have a lot more trouble with Lord and Lady Yatterman, and the 12 Yatter gods?! We have Yatter gods now? How much government is in place here, really?

Same with her look on Gatchan's back after he had rescued them, so adorable! If she was a couple years older, I'd ship them so hard! Still sort of ship them though. XD

Mach5 and Chim Chim? Those are the original names of the intelligent car and the chimpanse? Who are Speed, Spirtle and the family? How old is that show from where those cameos are?
Dang, watching the episodes and seeing comments like yours make me realize how much I don't get the references in this series! This is truly a case of "too young to remember". >.<

I hope Doronjo-chan and co and beat up all those remaining Yatter guardians! Lord Yatterman needs a lot of energy though if all the prisons seems to exists as sole powerplants. Having lost two of them must hurt his energy input quite a lot.

All of the references with the car and the monkey come from a 1960s anime originally called "Mach GoGoGo" in Japan, but is know by most by it's American title: "Speed Racer".

Speed Racer was an anime about a young teenage racecar driver and his family as he competes in races all around the world, all the while getting mixed up in adventures and intrigue along the way. The show was extremely popular in both the East and the West, and is one of the first anime that became mainstream in America. Like many anime series that come to the West, they changed the names of the main characters. In the original version, they were the Mifune family, and the lead's name was Gou Mifune. An America, the family's name was changed to the Racer family and the main character's name was Speed. Spritle (Kurio) was his little brother and he had a little pet chimpanze named Chim-Chim (Sanpei).

The iconic car of the show was called the Mach 5 that Speed used to race. It originally didn't drive itself or have any kind of AI intelligence, but I guess they just added that to this version since Galina would have no idea how to drive the Mach 5.

If you haven't seen Speed Racer, it's a pretty good classic series. My parents all watched it as kids and I watched it as a kid myself. I'm a pretty big fan, so seeing the references were awesome for me.

Even after all these episodes, I'm still not sure if Alouette can see or not. When she approached the monkey I was convinced she can't, but then in the end, it seemed like she took off her mask to see the dog, so I really don't know what's the deal with her after all.

Anyway, I'm really curious how they going wrap-up everything in the remaining three or four episodes now that it's revealed that Yatterman has 12 guardians. Boyacky has to build a Gundam if all of them are as strong as Goro.

My guess is that they'll make a season 2 or it will look too rushed.

Also I was thinking, since Galina and Aloutette are supposed to be the next yattermen, who's actually Yatterman-sama? I've been thinking really hard about this and I came to a crazy conclusion, but I think some generation of the Doronbos actually managed to beat the Yattermen in the past and created the Yatter Kingdom. Why would they do this? well, because it would seem that Yatterman won.

So what do they do after? Generations later they make Yatter Kingdom a shitty place to live while also putting a branch of their descendent far far away from them (because it would make sense to get rid of the Doronbos as Yatterman) so they continue with their plan, all this so that people start hating the yattermen but still can't do anything about it.

This is where they go full Aizen. They did all this because they "knew" someday the branch they exiled would show up to fight vs Yatterman since they "are" the Doronbos, and once they reach the capital they would explain to them what they did, make it look like they defeated the tyrants Yatterman and the Doronbos would be forever recognized as heroes! All according to keikaku!

Think about it, we have the moon who's shaped like Dokurobei and the Yatter Metropolis is also shaped like it, I don't think that's a mere coincidence or something symbolic.

I don't think the original Doronbo gang is capable of making such plans: they are just simple thieves ordered around by their boss Dokurobee (in contrast, Yatterman obsession with intelligent mechas make them a likely cause of the current world state IMO).

If the Doronbo are somehow at fault, then I'd suspect Dokurobee, who was a regular character in original Yatterman (and its main villain) but here appears only at very start of ep1 where it seemed like he destroyed the world. If he too were a good guy, he would have communicated with the new Doronbo rather than just be mentioned from time to time.

This was one of, if not the best episode so far.

Leaving most of their slapstick hi-jinks behind, this episode went full steam ahead into the grim dark. Everything reminds me of a dystopian apocalypse movie, mixed with Nazi concentration/labor camp vibes.

We have dead woods that are filled to the brim with headstones with only numbers on them as graves of the many that have been killed or worked to death here.
We have labor camps of people who are brainwashed night and day and are worked to the bone with extremely poor working conditions. And at this point, they are little more than mindless drone shells that can only praise the great Lord Yatterman.
We have propaganda videos playing all over the city all the time, as the only form of anything these people see on a daily basis.
We have horrible shacks and slums as far as can be seen that is hidden by the glare of the lifeless, but coldly bright skyscrapers of the inner city.
The entire kingdom is a nightmare, but this place? This place is truly a hell on Earth.

We meet the 12 Yatter Guardian gods this go round, but actually, we've already met one of them, as it seems that the "guardian gods" is just a term for Lord Yatterman's team of generals that lead the rest of his forces. General Goro was one of the 12, but was imprisoned as of last episode. We see the other 11 this episode, and it's actually rather sad when you know that Goro is really Allouette's father that was made into a cyborg and brainwashed into becoming a loyal soldier of Yatterman, then these other 11 are probably the same way. All good powerful people that were stolen from their homes and families, tortured, experimented on, and mind-wiped, and now serve the very thing that they hate.

But what and who is Yatterman really? Our team is about to find out when they are captured quite easily by the combined forces of the 11 guardian god generals and they are about to be executed, until they are saved in the nick of time by--Lord Yatterman? He requests to see them, and they are glad to finally be facing their main foe. However, things aren't as they seem, and the team is about to be crushed by a stunning(ly obvious ) revelation.

The leader known as "Lord Yatterman" is actually Dokurobe, who lead the Durombo gang in the original series by sending them on tasks, only for them to find that he had been tricking them the whole time. Dokurobe, who they thought of as a hero, has done all of this in the name of the real Yatterman heroes and dragged their names and their reputations in the mud beyond all repair. Little Leopard thought the villains and heroes in her storybook had been flipped around, but her mother had been right the entire time. Dokurobe is behind all of this, and the Yatterman were good heroes, that he exploited.

So, how will little Leopard take this reveal, and how will she stop this evil alien overlord? Well, we have two more episodes left for them to defeat him, free the people, find Allouette's dad, and help everyone else. Hopefully, this night that has fallen on the Yatterman legacy, will be lifted soon.

Holy shit, best episode of the season yet.

From the fighting against that Yatterman and then the capture....heh. And lol, I can't help but laugh at some of the gang's
"final words". Really? Almost no one knows what "high school girls" are in their world? LOL

Anyways, the way the treat the people in the kingdom is complete bullshit. Hope Dononjov and the others makes things right.

At the start of the episode I was thinking "What? A recap? NOW???!" but fortunately that was just the opener.

The last few episodes had seemed pretty lacklustre compared with the earlier episodes, but that was apparently just the calm before the storm, as things got serious again and in a big way...

The final arc is here!
Boy, those last words of them, would have eaten Oda-sama. XDDD
Bet if I had watched the old series I would be totally "I saw this coming", but so I didn't. No idea who Dokurobe is, if I hadn't read Irenesharda's comment. Man, what a bastard. Even using the heroes name and image after their death.
Hope he gets his forehead flicked hard!
But I fear that he might try to trick Leopard and her friends like he did ages ago with their ancestors. Don't fall for his lies!!!

Makes me wonder, so what happened to the original Yattermen? I'm scared of the words of the video "yatterman are being kept alive, not allowed to die"

Moved to living in countryside, married, had children, children had children, those children had children and so on until Galina and Alloulete got born.
In meantime Dokurobee took over their Utopia and turned it into a Dystopia.

Well, that's my guess :P (but Galina and Aloulete are definitely their descendants, I am 99% sure of that one!)

Oh yeah yeah, in fact, according to official sources Galina and Alouette are 100% the next yattermen. I was just curious about that part, it seemed odd. Even donronjo (or was it tonzra?) commented on that
