the ridiculous story is fine but the still frame animation is unacceptable in this age

1) Which part is ridiculous?

2) What? ..

That's most likely because in Japan, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which is more of literature, was traditionally popular compared with Records of Three Kingdoms, which is more of history.

It would be my question, too. Souten Kouro is based on Records of Three Kingdoms and I personally found the characterization and the story were well-thought although some directions/effects are ridiculous.

Well, I only watched non-sub versions...so I cannot comment on that.

In the last episode, the dark side of, Guan Yu, who is traditionally depicted as the embodiment of royalty, was dramatized in a rather interesting way...I wanted to see how character interactions would be developed since Cao Cao takes a great role in this and that there would be an interesting contrast between the character of Cao Cao and that of Liu Bei. Of course, I know the conclusion but the process must be interesting in this work. Also, it's a shame that the work hasn't gone far to the Red Cliff...I can see someone who is probably Zhuge Liang in the opening...

Guildenstern, OkashiiSubs did not drop the show yet. As for Souten Kouro, it is on hiatus on the moment because they are shorthanded and in need of Translators.

I can't believe no other fansubbers have picked up this awesome anime. I really hope someone either does, or helps one of the other stalled fansub teams with their projects.

It's not strange of a phenomenon, but it's hard to accept how a high quality anime like this can remain unsubbed and lots of other crap keeps having multiple subs on them.

Almost every other innovative and wild Madhouse anime never gets subbed for some unknown reason. Also the most criminal fansubbing act: Never subbing World Masterpiece Theater anime.

Nobody ever said anything about the speed, though.

Our second announcement is: YES, WE ARE STILL SUBBING SOUTEN KOURO. In fact, we aim to finish it by Summer (or is that wishful thinking?), so at some point in the not to far and distant future, you should be seeing some SK releases (we do have up to SK 12 translated now... so you really should be seeing 6-12 at some point...) It's really a huge shame that for some reason, our QCers don't like SK - maybe it's too bloody and gory for them? But do not fear, WE WILL FINISH IT (I think/ we hope).

For anyone interested, this series seems to be undergoing some kind of newly attentive revival. This 2011, GotWoot batched 1-5: http://www.nyaa.eu/?page=download&tid=192757 which is currently displayed on the tracker for this series http://animesuki.com/series.php/1429.html but what is not displayed is they also batched 6-10 under a "GoD" label which is sort of confusing to me: http://www.nyaa.eu/?page=torrentinfo...29&showfiles=1

As of now, even though okashii has done 11-12, I'm hesitant to check them out because perhaps if I wait the magic will continue and all 26 will be done? That would rock =) Saving the .tors in file for backburner at moment I guess.

This turned to be one of my favorite animes.
Excellent, all the way.

So, like...

Once upon a time, I read this manga in another language. I thought it was the most muthafakkin' awesome shiitz ever (at least before I discovered The Ravages of Time), but I had no idea what title it had in English or even whether it was originally Japanese or Chinese, given that it was a comic about Cao Cao and he is known by all (Asians) under Heaven.

I finally discovered it again by chance...and also found out that it has a surprisingly recent anime. With a pitiful, neglected 4-page thread on Animesuki. This one.

My questions, therefore, to the very few who had the fortune to watch this thing: first, how far does the anime go? Obviously at 26 episodes it's not going to reach the end of the manga or the ROTK story, but I do wish to know where it stops. Don't be afraid to spoil: I've been through ROTK in its many, many iterations.

Second, how good is this anime? Technically speaking, I mean. How well it adapted the source material, if you know; how much budget got thrown at it to make the decapitations and general warmongering shine; production values, pacing, presence, all that stuff. Is it worth my time downloading this?

Welp, because of the byzantine spoiler policy of these forums, I'm not even sure I can answer your question about how it ends here. I will say that I genuinely raged at the ending.

The production values aren't the best, they do seem to take shortcuts here and there, but in the end it's solid.
