good episode, thoug i can see why the anticlimatic feeling, since last episode left things in such tension, that we probably expected more impact in the confrontation with kaiki, but this is nisio oishin and this is the kind of thing he does in his works.

After the episode ended, the only thing I could think of is- "Yup, I totally know what people are going to complain comment about this episode..."

On a more positive thinking, I'm certain that Koyomi did something to both Hitagi and Shinobu that night and maybe the one after... Nobody here can convinced me otherwise

Things happened... Many things happened... Many happy things happened...

throughout that confrontation I kept thinking which part of his supposed retreat is a lie, I know that you can't really trust this man but I failed to see any danger of him lying that part as well....So as much that there's no big epic fight and such there's still some degree of tension due to the nature of Kaiki's character. You just don't know what to expect from him. Maybe even his self proclaimed title is a lie as well.

I just have a feeling that this will not be the last time we see him. Probably not in Nisemonogatari, but in future NisioIshin works.

Just what kind of dojo does Karen go to? Is her master Roshi or what?

To think Koyomi stopped sparring with her because he was afraid he'd hurt her... he should have been more concerned with own safety. Well, it's kind of the story of his life. I know he didn't try to fight back seriously, but I'm not sure he could have even if he had wanted to. She was overwhelming.

Kaiki is exactly the kind of man I thought he was. It turns out he didn't even use a fake bee as I suspected, it was just hypnosis (which raises the question of how Koyomi was able to take half of Karen's fever when it was just the result of hypnosis; even Kaiki seemed stumped). Thinking back on it, on top of what he said about Karen having a good imagination, there were huge visual hints in that scene as well.

I love how quickly he gave up and pretended to repent when faced with the prospect of getting his ass kicked. I assume he couldn't take care of two people at the same time with his hypnosis, so he would have been punched, and as he already stated earlier, he hates that. It's amazing how straightforward he can be despite being a con artist.

I hope he'll come back soon. He's too awesome to be written out of the series like that. The same goes for Oshino.

"Yuri shimai", . Someone give me some background here, why exactly were Karen and Tsukihi sleeping naked together?

Subs for this episode were downright terrible...I could barely follow the dramatic development throughout the Kaiki confrontation scene using Crunchyroll's translation, making the scene feel overacted and anticlimactic, but while Commie's adjustments offered a degree of enlightenment in some slight instances, I must've counted at least a dozen important lines which were blatantly and obviously wrong.

I don't have the resources to attempt a full translation myself but I might give a go later on at piecing together a script which preserves the dramatic pacing of the dialogue in that scene myself.

It also does not fit to help her with her disease (when her parents were together), because that would mean that Hitagi wouldn't have resisted the advances of the cultist... given what she admitted during the episode, as well as Kaiki and the other four would have con'ed her before her mother joined the cult, and therefore he wouldn't know about it.
There's a lot that looks wrong to me with those scenarios you're tossing out, so here's a reconstruction of the events as far as I remember them. Corrections from someone with more accurate knowledge of the series would be appreciated.

- Hitagi got sick (the flashback material from this episode seem to remind me that it was some sort of congenital disease which would cause rotting limbs)
- her mother became involved with shady religious cults believing that they could save her, or at least give her some faith/comfort about the world
- Hitagi was saved, but her mother remained involved with the cult
- one day, one of the cult leaders convinced Hitagi's mother to allow him to rape her (Hitagi)
- Hitagi resisted, jeopardizing her mother's relationship with the cult, and also creating cracks in her relationship with her mother herself.
- Avoiding her problems with her mother, Hitagi became possessed by the "weight" crab
- In order to cure Hitagi of her new condition, her parents hired a number of exorcists
- Kaiki was the first; he saw the cracks in the family's relationships, and exacerbated them so that he could extort them (namely, Hitagi's father) for more money.
- Hitagi's father and mother divorced after Kaiki
- Hitagi's father was conned by four further "exorcists" afterwards trying to find a cure to Hitagi's condition, resulting in the destitution of Hitagi's household now.

Second degree blackbelt and when we saw her walking on her hands it was supposed to be a foreshadow of her knowledge in Capoeira.

You got one point wrong but that would be a spoiler so if anyone wants to know what it is then it'll have to be in the light novel thread.

Also I don't think Crunchyroll's translations for this episode was that bad. I mean I would have prefer if they gave the audience more credit and wrote out the period names in Japanese rather than just saying 15th or 18th century. Other than that I thought they got the feel and words right.

okay.... let's clear every points I get from this episode :
1. Karen Vs Koyomi is very chaotic... reminded me a lot with Dragonball... but Koyomi's lecture to Karen is very very good.... (what the hell... I see Karen's flag.... incest route is open)

2. I don't get anything about their talking... since everything just LIE and FAKE, I think every points they said are pointless.. so maybe I'll just ignore everything and believe that everything will be okay... the conversation between Kaiki and Hitagi only to clear some Hitagi's past

3. I don't know what's happening after Hitagi said "Be gentle with me tonight"... well, Koyomi wakes up in his house and no Hitagi detected... Is it just another troll??? nah!everything depends on our imagination... lol

need more Shinobu.... and welcome new arc

@SolFalling/ominon: So Hitagi's parents were together even after the crab took away her weight/thoughts, I thought the crab released her from the memories of her mother, but I guess that was not the case... if the answering that is a spoiler, quote the question in the novel thread.

I would really love to read that, and more so admire Hitagi's confused face when she realizes that she is pleasuring two people with her body

She had her feelings taken away. What that means is that she was in poker face mode for the past two years. At least that's what I believe.

Holy !!!
Is this the reality marble of Hitagi?? The Unlimited Stationery Works??

And finally Hitagi can come past over the trauma of her past... ;_;
But then, as Kaiki says, she will just be an ordinary woman... ;_;

Wonder, which fights is more brutal?
Araragi vs Rainy Devil or
Araragi vs Karen??

I'm pretty sure Rainy Devil is more brutal since he had his intestines used as a rope to fling him around.

i think i will view the fight scene as their imaginery conflicts of different ideals...

the way Hitagi and Araragi handled Kaiki is so much more civilised than expected

an acceptable end for an arc
