I wish more episodes were like this. It was just the right mix of 'over the top' action and serious nature. The classical music was a nice touch and had an air of FLCL to it as well.

You know, usually I enjoy Mako-chans' sketch sessions when out of the blue interrupts a full tense moment to make her point in her slapstick, non sense fashion. However, when Tsumugu had Ryuuko at the edge ripping Senketsu from her I felt that Mako's sketch messed up the whole drama of that scene.

Anyways, in contrast to the previous episode this one threw a lot of developments, which made me to take a liking to Tsumugu's character.

From what I am understanding is that the Kamui aren't just pieces of clothing, and I don't think are just some sort of spirts. They may be man-made creatures or were naturally ocurring beings that got their existences transfigured by humans through other means.

Spoiler:

Two opposing approaches entered into conflict as shown in the fifth episode:

1. From his past experiences with the Kamui or clothing derived from Life Fibers, Tsugumu viewed them as threats or parasites, and there's evidence to support his worries.
- The woman who I presumed was related to her either as a lover, childhood friend, relative, etc. She was a test subject that put on either a Kamui or a cloth with highest percentage of Life Fibers, that fail to synchronize with her uniform. The result was either she was absorbed or killed by her enhanced clothing.

- The experiments conducted by the Sewing Club on the third episodes, which the test subject lost his sanity after putting up a Goku uniform made of 50% in Life Fibers and got overwhelmed by it.

2. Ryuuko's everyday, constant bickering with her Kamui, Senketsu.
- In this episode, Senketsu gave proof at Tsugumu's face, that Kamui are sentient, and it is particularly protective and caring for Ryuuko. At the end of the episode, Ryuuko acknowledges Senketsu as her friend more than just a piece of clothing, and the latter reacts as taken aback.


Hence, with all that evidence present up until episode five I'm piecing together quite a nice theory.

I speculate that the clothing that killed Tsugumu's female partner was a prototype version of a kamui, which could have been or not Satsuki's Junketsu. Up to this episode, we know nothing about Junketsus' quirks and/or personality, but it's definitely sentient and self-awared like Senketsu does.

There's the Anti-Clothing guerrilla and there's also the "Nudist Beach" organization resisting the Kiryuuin's family plan for world conquest.

The fact remains that based on Tsugumus' comments whether be one or both the Kamui can overwhelm their wearers and turning them to monsters, if the conditions are present in order to trigger the effect.
