I think that was just hyperbole though, the guy was exaggerating to the extreme. I think that Souma would have passed if Erina didn't have the mental image of being sexually harassed by little Souma angels from trying his dish.

I made two. The first one (top) didn't come out quite how I liked it, so for the second one I changed the type of bacon and added a step of finishing it up on the pan while it saute in the red wine sauce, and it came out better.
They do taste great, a lot different than simple "mashed potatoes and bacon".

It's very juicey inside and very much felt like a main dish.

Red wine (Zinfandel), mirin (sweet rice wine for cooking), soy sauce, butter, and garlic.
I didn't use the rosemary though.

That dish looked so delicious. Too bad I'm allergic against chicken, I would die eating that dish. :/

But Erina looked delicious as well. Had a good laugh when we got a close-up of her butt after Souma's dad "find a woman" advise to be a good chef. XD

And when she said it was disgusting and Souma who was so confident that he got this in the bag was all "eeeeeeeeeeeehhhh???", great scene! XDDD

Not quite as over-the-top as last week episode wise, but the visuals and OST of this silly shounen cooking series still do not fail to disappoint!

Dangit ... I was so glad Erina was humiliated like that. If anyone needed (and maybe still needs) a slice of humble pie it is her.

Part of me hopes that Soma will still be allowed into the Academy so she can continue to be humiliated. I am hoping that final sequence shown is someone who has more clout that Erina and that will let Soma in?

Also - the OP doesn't do much for me at all - but the ED is kinda ... well ... cute.

Souma trolling Erina NEVER gets old, and in fact, it's even getting better with the great VA performances and the animation

Shogkugeki no Souma is one of the animes that continue content after the ED.


That being said:
My bet is the grandfather is going to overrule her judgement, knowing she did it because she felt hummiliated by someone cooking better than her.

And if they want to make it fun he'd have to do that by shouting at her ... Shirobako- fus ro dah style.

Hmm ... I wonder if it is more of a question of achieving results that are stellar by using methods and having personal behaviours and knowledge that are radically different than what she is familiar, and perhaps comfortable, with?

Her comments of "I can't accept that someone like this could make something like this" (I am paraphrasing) make me think it may be something like this. It is almost as if she has grown up in a particular world, knows how to live and manoeuvre about in this crystal palace, but has at the same time developed a sort of narrowness and rigidity of "this is how things MUST be".

I don't get the feeling that she is nasty as much as ... erm ... immature, I guess?

Great ep! Is Erina supposed to be the Gilgamesh of Shokugeki no Souma or what? But while it was fun seeing Souma take her down a peg or two, I hope to see some development from her in the future else she'll just be that bitchy girl that one get's satisfaction in seeing her brought down/conquered/added to Souma's harem but nothing beyond that.

While of course Souma is getting in I kind of liked the immediate result.

It's a good lesson. Cooking for people is a service industry. If you spend the whole time trying to one-up your customers or make a point while basically sneering at them then they are going to bite back. You aren't always going to have the ideal result when you can't keep your attitude in check.

In the end Souma gets in and both he and Erina get some dissatisfaction. She'll be bypassed by I presume her grandfather and Souma gets the immediate shock of being failed .

I would agree the girl was pretty darn arrogant and spend the whole time basically setting herself up for her own fall. It was almost over the top how much they wanted to set her up for being yanked from her pedestal.

Besides that, this show is still firing on all cinders despite notable lack of fanservice this time around, but the staff made up for that with creepy Souma cherubs and almost naked Erina near the end.

Even without the food porn (which is almost literal at this point) anime feels like exaggerating the manga scenes more than manga did them. It's not problem at the moment, but all the over-the-top can be kind of exhausting from time to time. Well at least if there one you can't say about SoS lacking in it's energy.

Anyway, she's supposed to judge (impartially) how much she likes the food, not how much she likes the cook. She failed to do the job entrusted by the school. Very unprofessional.

She already was unprofessional by changing the rules of the exam before it got started. By that token everyone who ran off should be allowed to come back and actually take a proper examination.

And in the end when it comes to being in a service industry both of their attitudes suck.

Well anyway, this episode showed to the audience Erina... Erina is the main......... antagonist, I think. Yea some people will disagree with me, but what can I argue against people using "genre savyness" (e.g. "she is just being tsun before dere blabla even if her childishness could have destroyed peoples' whole lives, it's fine, because lol,anime blabla") or "but she looks beautiful" (e.g. "dem bobs, best grill") as excuses for her actions here.
