Act 7. Dead Night and Dead Ruck
The fanservice in this episode skyrocketed beyond heavens.
Of course, Saeko's fanservice topped the first place because she got lots of cool shots onscreen fighting with her boken and sword-fighting, awestruck techniques coupled with those irresistible fanservice shots of hers. While, I think Marikawa-sensei's bared nude shots became over the top due to the fact that she did not realize she was naked, until Saya told her so. Anyways, while this episode wasn't superb, nonetheless, it delivered a powerful pack of humvee steamrolling, gunshots, sword blows, Takashi's dare rescuing, and solid emotions. Spoiler:

I do wonder if animators have as much opportunity in showing proper consistency as portraying their "proper physics" (*ahem* jiggling).
More seriously, it is just bugging me: they go as far as having a proper set of details for guns etc, yet they really don't have a proper sense of "distance" in this episode. And seriously, when they are pouring the budget on only one side of the franchise, it makes you wonder why the studio didn't just do a spin off, dropping the zombie stuff altogether. *sigh*

Well on the franchise thing, the zombies are the only reason why the girls in this anime would ever wear such things, if there was no zombies then that would mean the fan-service due to "blood-bathed clothes" or "fighting scenes" will not exist. If I misunderstood your post please reply.

It isn't even about being "more and more" ecchi. The problem is actually how the animation budget is poured on that aspect, but really not on any other. I know zombies don't require a fluid animation, but it becomes some sort of ridiculous when animation literally skips frames when zombies fall like -dominoes-.
And no matter how I try to rationalize with anime physics, the distance issue in this episode still bugs me.

Okay, what the hell? http://www.geneonuniversal.jp/rondorobe/anime/hotd/ Go to that site, and then use any smartphone which has a Q-Code reader to read that barcode. It directs you to a website, which promptly throws up a 403 Forbidden error for me. What the hell, Japan? Last edited by Unknown Soldier; 2010-08-19 at 01:35. |

I really don't think they are going with the Resident Evil approach to this show, or even the Dead Rising approach. I don't think there will be any 'bosses' in this show.
So it turns out the indie J-rock band that performs the HSotD OP (Kishida Kyoudan and the Akeboshi Rockets) have an album they released all the way back in 2008 - "Literal World". I need to track this down somehow, I know that Japanese music CD releases tend to have limited print runs and then vanish forever unless the band is fuck-all huge. They have this combination indie punk-rock sound which I really like. You can listen the B-side on the HSotD OP single here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivj0Evi2AfM Last edited by Unknown Soldier; 2010-08-19 at 02:34. |
