I expect Ishibumi to talk about the future of the series in Dragon Magazine this month. It's been over a year since the last main story volume and so in my opinion, it's likely he has to talk about DxD's future: will it continue as it is or will it end sooner.

He's been healthy and getting sick for almost year now. One of his post about that he need Twitting everyday because if he's not his editor would think he's infected by covid or collapse then rush him to hospital.

I hate to say it but yeah, he should probably put one of the novels (Slash Dog) on hiatus or maybe even both of them. There's the DX volumes to consider if he still wants to do short stories.
Even if he does manage to do a double release for SD and Shin DxD this year, it doesn't seem sustainable in the long run. |

well to be fair tobio in last volume did a big jump in power and if i am not mistaken fights and defeats an elder youkai who should be somewhere around yasaka. and this is just vol 3, after he barely learned to control balance breaker, and it was a side villain. there is also how tobio should have like 2 power ups before the prequel ends (breakdown the beast and abyss side) not to mention how there is that transformation whit the 4 fiends in re:fantasia which IMO looks like teen tobio and not the one in DxD
so yeah, ishibumi must be struggling somewhat in writing tobio growing into what he is in DxD whitout making it look like he was stronger in slashdog than he is in DxD. though personally i think the reason ishibumi is taking so long is because he is planning the entirety of what remains of the series on a more detailed way. he probably had a general outline of what ExE saga was going to be, but once he reached it he decided to be more elaborate on it. that or he got into a gacha game, those things prey on authors like starved predators |

meanwhile DxD tobio was being matched by gressil who by tobio own words is not even a real satan-class fighter, in his strongest form. so either he either dropped training or hit his ceiling ridiculously fast and low |

The Gressil statement didn't even make much sense, considering he was first said to be above Maou-class and he was relative to CxC Issei with a limiter placed on him. Tobio said he's cut down gods before though IIRC, but yea, it seems like he's going to hit his ceiling pretty fast. It's possible that his development post-SD comes from mastering his SG's abilities rather than hitting harder.
Inugami is around Yasaka's level. Tobio was relative to him without using Hinokagutsuchi's flames, so BxB Tobio is already Ultimate-class. Seems like Vali's imperfect BxB is also Ultimate-class, which would mean Augusta was Ultimate-class after possessing Lavinia. I guess SD villains will peak at Maou-class or God-class with Satanael and Oz. I expect Adult Tobio to be a solid God-class fighter. |

There will be a new short story next month about the Gremory clan. The editor said the 'fun atmosphere of the Occult Research Club will be back' so seems like it is mainly focused on them. There will be new illustrations with it.
