Also a shame that he came up with a subpar dialogue for this show. I guess he's not the guy for this kind of genre.

As for Ishidate, he definitely had a lot of fumbles here. I still think the idea and feel of the conversations/interactions relied on his calls. He failed to see how some of the out of place humor muddies the serious tones of the show. It's just very jarring at times.
I guess he's going to be blacklisted for a lot of peeps here!

It's a shame though. Some of his episodes he directed on some titles were pretty flashy and exciting thus showing he had potential. Is this one of the moments where he stunk on establishing the entire setting and characters? I feel that's the biggest thorn in the series which is SO uncharacteristic for KyoAni overall since they could nail that in all of their previous series.

I know the anime is trying to go for the impact of bringing things back to how it all started, but I wish it would give some explanation, even a BS explanation, of how Mirai came back. Things happen just because.

The only thing I can remember clearly from this anime is : the power of megane. It's somewhat ludicrous the only thing that makes sense to me is the silly anime fetish for megane.

besides all the critics for this Anime I really like it, maybe it's not the best thing kyo Ani has done but I think is still a good serie and if they make a season 2 i hope they'll make it better.

i think the problem is who most of the criticism dont realize who this series is a adaptation from a LN who not ended yet, and still running, then if you want to blame someone blame the LN writer, kyoani dont make too much hard changes most like add some characters and little changes here and there but overal this follow the source where SHE NOT DIED TOO!!!! then if their really killed her this will be against the source and make impossible have another season.

probably some of the questions like how she come back is explainned later in novel and maybe in another season, this season ending bringing more questions because was just start(someone pointed who this was just 2/3 of the FIRSTE VOLUME this means who we still have much more material and more questions to be add and answered if you want answers go read the novel if you can't wait another season.

Akihito taking the KnK back inside him is worse than Mirai coming back to life imo. Way to make half the show pointless.

I agree with the majority of the posters here, the final episode was ridiculously bad. I could rant about all the bad points but I think that's been covered already. It's just that I was expecting so much more with Kyoani behind it and instead I got something extremely mediocre at best. Bleh, hopefully their next project will be better.

to be fair i was expectating this, akihito geting back knk will be the obvious, this arc was basically for him learn to control his own power with safe, maybe in next season or in ln, he can now finally controll his youmu side and use this to fight with is friends and not keep depending on every one cuz he can't fight with the fear of go out of control, now probably he can use this to fight.

Well, taking in account the only "good episodes" was the one before this crap, well using Animesuki standars I'll give a 2.5 or 3 out of 10. Just because the visuals because the actions scene were cheap and I noticed they started using speed lines .

Out of 2 volumes, not just one so there was material, it's just Kyoani being Kyoani.

if with 2/3 of one volume their were able to do a 12 episides anime this means who their have enough materal to do another season or even their could did a 20+ with only 2 volumes.

this means dont matter the end since still have enough material to keep working, their just dont wanted to do a original ending.

Let's put it this way, at least it's better than Munto!

(and a few other high drama, empty characterizations series that premiered or continued this Fall)

Oh god, the Munto TV series. Just the memories of that makes me rage. But yes, KnK could've turned out worse.

Oh god, all these low ratings for the finale.

Anyway, this is probably a reminder for KyoAni that relying on their own staff for an animated project will expose their respective weaknesses.
KyoAni pretty much revealed their weakness for handling an almost-original anime series based on an ongoing light novel series. In fact, adopting KnK in the first place was a rather rash move for them — they ended up with ONE volume worth of material, and I wasn't surprised to discover their fumbling around with the plot.

I would probably still rate it an 8 in a 10-6 rating system, but it doesn't mean that both Jukki Hanada and Taichi Ishidate did a decent job handling the series.

Wake up, KyoAni. You can't just rely on your own ideas all the time.

She might not have actually "gone" anywhere to begin with honestly. I mean for all we know Izumi could have had her trapped somewhere underneath the Nase house and she could have been like having a "physical" out of body thing or something along those lines. I highly doubt it was "akkey's will" that brought her back, considering Mirai wanted to be with him JUST as bad (hence the puppet) I think she never left or was just away for a bit recovering.

The lack of explanations sucks.. tho it does setup for S2 thats for sure, and from the sounds of it the novel and this anime are pretty off. I still enjoyed it even it was pretty off as far as a crummy ending and such the visuals were enough for me (i'm easy).

honestly I don't mind all those foreshadowing, all the mysteries that left unexplained, probably because I have assumed there'll be a S2 from the start. But man, you can't just disappear and then appear again out of nowhere. Yes it's happy ending but SO unpleasant. I feel like a fool for getting emotional. Because the first half of the episode was so good.

No it's not because of Akihito for sure. Because he himself looks surprised.

I just love this series so much that I'm angry with that ending. The directors suck.
