I don't know about the source material. I think the novel has long conversation and description. Anime would skip a lot of parts. In the later story, they will revisit their story before they are maou and yuusha. Their world will somehow connect to Tokyo. So, the story will remain as light heart parody. Unlike certain other shows(F**it B**ket), the story gets darker and darker as it goes on and on.

HOLY ****!!!! THAT WAS AMAZING!!!! This ep delivered everything that's great about this series; the comedic moments interspersed throughout the battle was hilarious, and the action scenes were enjoyable to watch as well =03. Honestly, I'd been contempt without any action in this series, despite how good the action was at the beginning of the 1st ep, but man, did they deliver some greatness in this ep =03. 11/10!
The old man being in cahoots with Lucifer was a nice twist. Hell, him shooting Maou with a gun was quite unexpected. Maou getting a hole blasted through his chest shocked the hell outta me D0=. Emilia's bones crunching as she was catching Chiho was cringing =0(. Maou was so cool and manly when he said he had to wrap this up so he could teach Chiho how to use the ice cream(?) machine. He was totally badass when he teleported right into Lucifer's face with the anger of the devil on his face as Lucifer shook in fear X03. Don't make him miss being EotM . Emeralda is much cuter than I thought when she's not trying to kill you(like the 1st ep) . Once again, Maou proves his manliness by reversing all the damage Lucifer did because Lucifer was his subordinate(though even if that weren't the case, he'd prob do it anyway). I guess Emeralda and Albert were off about the Sonar target; Chiho was/is thinking about Maou much more than Emilia was/is; so cute X03. Guess she was too busy trying to assimilate into society. I'd be satisfied if the show ended right here, even if there was more story to tell. It's the first time I've been THIS thoroughly entertained by an episode this season. Fortunately it isn't over, and I'll be eagerly awaiting the next ep. Besides, I'm still wondering who Miki-T really is; Emi's mom? Former demon lord? =03(please don't give me any hints or tell me I'm wrong/right).

Omg, Chiho's expressions drive me crazy. So cuuuuuuuuute. Love this series and all my friends seem to think it is amazing as well. It's hilarious with enough plot to give this series some direction. I'll probably read the novels after the anime is over, mainly to see what will happen to Chiho. If there is any justice left in the world, please make it so Chiho ends up with Maou-sama.

Ep 5
OMFG what an episode! Even among epic clash between Maou and Lucifer, the comedy also followed suit! Badass battle + Hilarious comedy = EPIC! What made me laugh so hard until crying was when Maou got his chest blasted and, when i thought he was going to bid farewell to Chi-chan, it turned out he intended to teach Chi-chan how to use ice cream machine after all this shit end Definitely comedy of the season |
