They want to rape Saten in an alley with no witnesses. Good thing Saten is smart enough to call her friends in Judgement as Kuroko can respond ASAP with her teleportation. During the Kihara arc Skillouts assault espers who can't use their powers. One school girl is cornered during the montage. What happened to her is left to the imagination. |

I wouldn't say they wanted to rape Saten. They were just going off a power trip and when they saw Misaka they just wanted to exert dominance and knock her around if she didn't play nice.
Remember, Saten is the one that chose to run down a dark alley - they weren't trying to force her in there. Had she remained in a public place nothing really bad could ever have happened to her. Especially with her friends coming. Besides, Saten even gets scolded for thinking that running into a dark alley all alone with a bunch of guys after her was a great idea. |

I think she was in the alley already when she met the guys that decided to chase her. The reason Uiharu scolded her was because Saten repeatedly goes down alleys despite knowing they're dangerous. Whether or not they would've raped her is impossible to say (and is not something the writers would ever be willing to clarify as we saw in the last season as well ) but I sincerely doubt a bunch of thugs would go through the effort of chasing down a girl just to be arseholes to her.

She was making a call next to an ally. I'm sure if she ran in the street and near other people the boys would have lost interest because messing with her isn't worth getting in huge trouble over. They also couldn't really do much in public either, especially if she screamed and threw a fit.

When we see her, she's clearly standing inside the alley with the guys blocking the exit...
See look: Spoiler for space:
There's nothing to suggest she was in a public place to begin with (Those thugs aren't on a main street if that's what you're thinking. It just looks like another isolated area. XP)

But it seems Saten is quite used to it....
That makes me wonder why unarmed girls always goes through isolated alleys where only suspicious thugs will hang around -.-; Its like having a big text above you saying "Hello, I'm defenceless here, could you r*pe me, please?" Seriously . |

Well in all seriousness we don't really know why she did it since they didn't give a reason. She's probably done it a hundred times before, thought she could get away with it if she were quick and got unlucky. I don't think we're supposed to give it that much thought.

Great first episode, I wasn't bored for a minute. It's great to see Kuroko keeping up that active role with Mikoto she left off with in the first season, I just love her voice and her antics. Misaki has such a beautiful design, I'd like to see more of her. Plus the OP, it looks like there are going to be other Level 5 espers fighting our Biri Biri. Looking forward to it.

All this talk about Saten in alleys - does no one remember in the Railgun OVA it is established that Saten is quite knowledgeable about unorthodox shortcuts?
I loved this ep... Some things that no one has mentioned yet: +1: I'm glad they decided to continue using Kuroko's teleport sound from Railgun, the Index one for her isn't as good. +1: More males (both the bad guys and other anti-skill agents). +2: When Kuroko was teleporting the thugs, her 2 passenger limit was properly done. This pleases me as someone who appreciates the rules and structure of the "science side" abilities. Negatives: Possible -1: Kuroko's chain teleporting is a lot faster than I remember it (thinking of the Uiharu scene at the beginning)... I thought there was a short "cooldown"? If so I'm hoping they only did that for comedic effect. Other thoughts: Neutral: No overt fanservice in the first episode. Neutral: It would have been nice to see Mikoto land... I mean I know how she did it, but it would have been nice to watch. |
