Suimei has trouble using station ticket booths and automatic doors without it breaking down. The more complex the technology, the easier it is to break. The more powerful the magic intensity in the area, the easier it becomes to break technology. Kinda like Arcanum.

Spoiler for Gaiden:

Suimei is assigned to teach someone magic (sorry Felmenia, you're not the first), ハイデマリー・アルツバイン Haidemary Arutubain, or Hydemary Altubain(?). She's actually a homunculus and was created 6 years ago.

Suimei was chosen because the person who created Hydemary, Edgar, was an old friend of his father and Suimei has become famous for defeating the dragon (Suimei of course downplays it, noting that he was just lucky to have survived when so many magicians died).

Hydemary have a habit of falling asleep on the spot. While talking to Suimei, she does just this. Suimei couldn't find a way of leaving the room and was stuck waiting for her to wake up.

No real story for the Gaiden, just Suimei agreeing to teach Hydemary and she goes off with him. Will likely see her whenever LN09 gets released. Maybe the Gaiden will be included as a short story in that volume.

If she's still around then we might see her in the next volumes, either from her searching for him or from getting caught in a summoning. Would be funny to see Felmenia's reaction.

Well, getting a normal high school girl too deeply involved in his life back then probably didn't sound good to him. He had a lot of enemies and seemed to be away from home frequently.

Not denying that it makes him a jerk though.

^^ I agree. I don't blame him for changing her memories about him but he shouldn't have changed her target of affection from him to Reiji. He should've removed it if he could or make the target someone nonexistent if he can't completely remove it.

^seeing her interactions with Reiji, I don't think she's the type to give up after a rejection so she might've started stalking him which is dangerous.

^^ I agree that he should've handled it better. But I doubt it would've ended so cleanly with just a rejection. Look at Io Kuzami, yeah it seems to be from something possessing her, but it's action seemed close to what she did during her black history so at the end of the day that's still her and she doesn't seem to be the type to back down easily or at least not without a good reason.

IIRC, he didn't change her affections to Reiji.

She originally did like Reiji, but fell for Suimei after he started helping her.

After she lost her affections for him, it naturally shifted back to Reiji.

The fantranslator also says J-Novel recruited him to work for them in releasing Isekai Mahou in English.
Unfortunately this means the translator will have to take down his translations, since J-Novel will be using his work to catch up to releasing Vol 8.

PS. Even with "insider knowledge", there's still no known release date for Vol 9 in Japan.
