It's likely a short series, and I doubt it will generate enough topic for a thread of it own.
And it's completely related to Magi, so no, I don't think a separate thread would be in the best interest.

Sinbad's dad is really cool, I like his reaction when he found Sinbad in the boat, now we need to know why he agree to help Partevia at the end, since he became a pacifist after losing his leg?
is nice to see that Sinbad was really special even as a child

Chapter is out: Partevia is pretty much like the Carthage Empire - a country that run on the benefits of wars. Without a clear victory, it will just collapse by itself. And it's sad that no one ( except Sind's father ) seem to recognize it.

Not sure if Carthage runs on the benefit of war, seeing how Carthage's wars are all done to retain its trading monopoly...first against the Greeks then against the Romans. Of course, the nation is engaged in a war with the instory equivalent of the Roman Empire...but still...
The plundering of conquered nations and giving direct benefits to the citizenry feels more like Napoleon. He was the one who really started the systematic trend of "making war pay for itself" (a pattern in which Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan followed). Most plundering before Napoleon was chaotic, individual affairs, Napoleon made it ordered and serve the state. On the flip side, the hardcore war, collective, "only victory is survival" fevor really feels more like Imperial Japan than anything. DID NOONE GET THE LION KING VIBES WHEN BADR LIFTED SINBAD INTO THE SKY? Last edited by Rainrir; 2013-05-09 at 06:59. |

Yeah, he probably disguise himself as traveling merchant or he could be a real merchant but was forced into military by his country's authority. Either way, he seems to be the inspiration for Sindbad' sailor career later.
