Series everyone MUST watch?

I'm wondering what series people suggest everyone should watch? Things like Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Trigun, etc. Some of THE series in the medium.

Those three are the only ones I can really think of (and that I've watched).

Most likely they'd be older series. I think TTGL will be up there eventually (it's my favorite show so far and I doubt anything can top it in epic awesomeness).

Hmm, Romeo x Juliet and Air. They have almost every genre of anime. Comedy, drama, action, romance, everything. I think they fit for everyone.

You say TTGL? But a TTGL fan may not be a mecha fan.

If you're a mecha fan, you must watch:

Eureka 7
Gaogaogar and Gaogaigar FINAL
Nadesico
Top wo Nerae! 1 and 2 (Also known as Gunbuster 1 and 2)

But again, if you're a mecha fan, you would already have watched those, so, non mecha:

Haruhi - everyone must watch to judge it themselves.
Lucky Star
Nanoha series

Just these few for now.

Well, I meant more with your second list of suggestions. The series anyone should watch regardless of their preference in genre.

I personally dont like old animes so i wont suggest those as series that everyone should watch...

Full metal panic (The best combination of action, drama and comedy and a bonus for all mecha fans)
Clannad (One of my personal favorite slice of life / romance animes together with kanon, air and honey & clover)
Fate Stay Night (action/drama/romance... everything is perfectly done and the ending one of the best)
Kenichi (i would suggest the manga over the anime as a must read manga if you are looking for action + epic comedy )

hmm there are many others that i liked but i think those 4 are the ones you cant miss. Im not going to suggest Naruto, Bleach and one piece cause i assume that there is no way you dont know about them if you found your way to this forum =D

Agreed. Maison Ikkoku and Kimagure Orange Road are the classic romance series, MI for the long-scale, mature romance development types, KOR for the school-age/growing up romance/friendship triangle type. And very few of the followers have been as good.

Ghibli films are not series but as they represent, to me, the top of the anime barrel, I think any anime fan should watch all of them, beginning with Mononoke-hime, Grave of the Fireflies, My Neighbor Totoro, and Whisper of the Heart.

I agree that Haruhi seems to be the big "thing" in recent times, so you probably should watch that. Personally, it isn't really one of my favourites.

Actually, considering that most people have a different interest, preferences, or ideals. It is difficult to actually recommend an anime that everyone would like. However, I do know an anime that most people wouldn't dislike..

My three favorite shows are:
Honey & Clover
BECK:Mongolian Chop Squad
Ookiku Furikabutte (Oofuri)

Of those the only one I would say absolutely everyone should watch is Honey & Clover, while I love Beck and Oofui they're not for everyone. But go watch Honey & Clover now.

Honey and Clover seconded. In my honest opinion it is the most well conceived anime of this decade.

Great Teacher Onizuka is a series almost anybody can enjoy. I think of it as a timeless classic that is a must-watch. Not many other series like that, as they depend too much on genre preferences.

Well, a few off the top of my head

Gundam(any series), 2nd or 3rd Code Geass, Monster, Death Note, Suzumiya Haruhi, Kanon, Bleach, Naruto...

Not that I liked all of these, but they are all fairly popular for their genre.

Hmm... If you want to make your parents happy learn more about family just have a good time, CLANNAD is it. Well-balanced.

Want laughs? Azumangah Daioh does it. Toradora too. Minami-ke (first 13 eps) is fine too.

Want action? Haruhi. Yes, Haruhi.

Need a tearjerker? Well, there's AIR and Kanon. Or hang on for CLANNAD After Story.

Well, I would suggest Code Geass, because I really liked that anime despite the fact that I hate mecha. That anime combines about every genre into one masterpiece.
