I'm watching Central's subs (but I do have Thora's version at home - and GG's 25th episode, with the three audio and sub tracks). I'm a fan of old school subbing.

Italian food. Which is apparently quite popular here.

Anyway, yeah...nice restaurant in Yurakucho. I didn't see him again, though, until the Chie Kajiura concert, after which I managed to startle Tomo Sakurai.

Yes, that actually happened.

EDIT: And I'm currently watching THORA...and noting the points where I'm disappointed in the subs the used.

Try Central's and see if they're not better.

Also, who did you have dinner with, again? I can't really read his name...

I guess having some white guy shout out, "Sakurai-san! Dai-fan desu!" (and then proceed to shake her hand) doesn't happen to her every day.

Oh well, at least she'll remember me (I hope. Please...?).

Ah. Yeah, after watching their Cross Game release, I don't look for their subs.

Hidetaka Tenjin.

He did "mechanical art" for Zero and Frontier (which I believe means he did most of the CG modeling), as well as doing the box art for Bandai and Hasegawa for the past ten or so years.

So yeah...if you got a Macross toy or model any time recently, he did the box.

I'd like to think she's the kind of person who remembers such events. Plus, i'm sure it made her smile. :3

Nor was I. I forgot how many it actually takes. I'm going to set the interval higher next time, this was one shot every one second).

Wow re-watch of the first episode, gotta admit that knowledge of what happens in hindsight does make you notice more things about the first episode.
Its much easier to talk about this by separating the characters.

Alto
First of all the first episode was more focused on Alto than anything else, and we can even see a bit of development from his side, in his shifting feelings for Frontier. The first half which focuses on Alto actually explains why Alto doesn't like Frontier "because its a cage", but once Frontier is attacked we can see from Alto's reaction that he does actually care about his home, despite what he said. He also has a big ego, and seems very sensitive towards people teasing him for being a bishounen.

Ranka
Nothing special, she's cute, though she seems much more outgoing and forward in the first episode, and also younger than 16 years old that's probably because of her hair.

Sheryl
Outright, she's a bitch, but a professional bitch whose opinions as shown in the first episode are usually right. She says its too dangerous for Alto to perform the corkscrew in the theater because the Mihoshi students are amateurs, and she's right it was disastrous when Alto tried to do the stunt which Sheryl fixed. However, her attitude does leave much to be desired. Not the best of first impression, you can either view her as as at best jaded, and at worst a bitch.

Grace
She seems nice, like a responsible manger that actually cares about Sheryl's well being. <==makes the later episodes much more cruel

Cathy
Seems to be a professional military woman that actually does care more about the people she is protecting than what she is ordered but alas not following protocal can cause an incident which would put Frontier in a bad position

Ozma
Hotblooded big brother. Seems really caring and responsible. I see death flags

Michael

Awesome character, I think its absolutely hilarious that he teases Alto for being a bishounen. Also its pretty nice how close he and Alto are.

Luca

Shouta-fangirl bait.

Nanase
Boobs, also she seems very maternal.

Vajra

Brutal almost to the point of sadism. They are pretty much shown to attack without prejudice.

Yeah, forgot to comment on that: the fate of Gilliam pretty much emphasized their "no prisoner" approach.
I was pretty shocked with the gory death, myself.

I for one was a little curious...why is his blood so thick?

*sigh*

In so many anime series...they make the blood so thick. Why? Is there a reason for this?

And nice av/sig/re-watch ad.

Yeah, dunno about that, myself. Maybe a self-censorship thing?

Maybe because in this case it might not have been just blood? That's not exactly something that I want to think about though.

Think of it as squeezing a thawed can of concentrated OJ. All the contents will be nicely popped from the container. The Vajra just "juiced" Gilliam.

No, just from my desktop, with a 21'' screen. Which is juuuust fine for watching BD's.

Eh, I guess. To be honest, it never really registered, since things were going pear-shaped for the people of Frontier at the time. Just assume that Sheryl insisted on getting all people out first. ^^

I am still amazed when I look back at how different my impressions and opinions were compared to now.
At least you were right with the Vajra.

Well, I guess I'll add my first impressions:

Sheryl: "Strawberry pie-wa!" <swoon> Oh, that behaviour is unfortunate. Hm.
Ranka: Genki-girl! Oh, it's rather "clumsy helpless girl".
Alto: Damn, he's irascible. Well, at least he ain't emo.
Michael: Man, leave off teasing the irascible guy.
Luca: What, is he the "younger brother" guy?
Ozma: Oh, damn, it's Roy Fokker born again. I hope he won't die...
Cathy: oO Misa-chan? Oo

Because he is a tough warrior type manly man. Rawr! Or was.

Great to see everyone again. I used Thora's Blu-Ray release and it sure looks pretty on my 23" LCD screen. Not much to comment on, as others have been far more eloquent than I would be with their reviews of the first episode. Looking forward to next week.

And seriously, if I was watching this for the first time and missed the intro video, I would have thought that Sheryl and Kathy were the two in Alto's Triangle.
