Just submitted Chihayafuru for consideration.

The exhibition opened in Nagoya earlier today, May 9. Yahoo Japan provided coverage with a brief video report from the venue. Including a few shots of the framed illustrations for Volume 38 and the making-of video, showing the creation of the key visual artwork used for the exhibition itself, played on a monitor at the Nagoya venue (Previously played in Tokyo and Osaka as well).

Meanwhile, on Yuki Suetsugu's Instagram page:

Volume 38

Published earlier today, in print and digital edition.

I like the many other "obi" designs as well but I'm always particularly pleased when a return to the "transparent" look of the first volume is adopted, as it has been for this 38th volume. Based on the image in Yuki Suetsugu's Tweet.

So many artistic decisions to get from その札は、きみがくれた情熱。 to 約束の昜所~
... and we're not quite there, yet ~

Also Love the subtle differences between this image and the corresponding cover illustration on Be Love 10 - her chosen
Spoiler for motif:
a bit of a departure.

"[Like] a Carp on the cutting board", is how she annotated the reveal of the spine, through Instagram.

Volume 38, like each Japanese Chihayafuru volume in print before it, has a poem printed on the inside front-flap of its dust jacket. Omitted in digital editions.
Spoiler:

[May 16 - Publication of the latest volume. Ongoing Exhibition. A brief, slightly wistful, note about process, name notebooks, her switch to iPad.

Her Name "notebook" for verse 100 is on hands-on display at the exhibition. She notes here that she switched to digital creation of her Name around verse 183, however. No more physical notebooks for the chapters after that. The image shown in the Twitter message is from the digital Name for verse 195. We're invited to have a look, compare this image from the early outline with the finished product -pages 69, 70, the last page of the chapter- as published in this 38th volume, as available for purchase. The chapter was first published in the fifth Be Love issue for 2018.

Tomorrow we too will know approximately how many physical copies of volume 38 were sold in the first "week" in release.]

Skipping one issue, serialisation is scheduled to resume in Be Love 12, to be released on June 1, 2018.

[As noted with the linked Instagram, Yuki Suetsugu is working ahead, beyond that issue, with poem cards in karuta formations at her decorated fingertips. Weather permitting.]

Volume 39 is scheduled for publication on August 9, 2018.

Thursday May 17:
... back. The image on the back of the dust jacket for volume 38 doesn't have the brand name on the bags carried by the trio of happy shoppers this time around but the illustration was previously used in a collaboration campaign with a prominent karuta sponsor, the regional store Joshin. A company also celebrating an anniversary this year. On the campaign bonus clear file their store name is prominently displayed.

Yuki Suetsugu just posted an image of the back of the dust jacket with an explanation of her theme, buying items in preparation for university, for the illustration as well as the items she depicted. "Pre-emptively" noting in particular the new type of rice cooker, in anticipation of questions. (The parenthetical 三合炊き - indicates that three measuring cups / scoops worth of rice can be prepared inside a cooker of this size.)

Entry at number 3 with an estimated 100.330 units in print - according to Oricon's Weekly Comic Ranking for the week of 2018年05月07日~2018年05月13日, for the 38th volume of Yuki Suetsugu's series, released 2018年05月11日.

In dozens of cinemas across Japan this will be the last day Chihayafuru Musubi will be screened, while in other theatres its run is extended or has not yet begun.

Comparison. Noteworthy differences between the covers. Between magazine chapters and those published in the Tankōbon. Interesting for "second guessing" choices made, but I guess we should consider the Tankōbon version definitive. That version is probably what will ultimately be translated into other languages as well.

Spoiler for Verse 195:

Says something about room for change and about work in progress even after "completion". Took a picture to illustrate this time - book on top of magazine- partially showing two pages from that same verse. Snapshot from the moments as mentioned above behind the spoiler tags. Alterations for publication of the book. The photo shows only the bottom panels but Pages 41 and 42 in volume 38 are different in their entirety from the 3rd and 4th pages of the chapter as originally published in Be Love 5 (2018). From a chapter which was published near the front, on page 7, in this magazine issue. Second chapter in the book version.

Spoilers from chapter 195 in these:

I've been always been an Arata man, but I guess lately Taichi's development has been much more important. Anyway, the difference has been simply huge

Chapter 201

Spoiler:

I am still all Arata but somehow I am rooting for Taichi in this game. His emergence as a Karuta player has been simply amazing. Gotta give it to Chihaya for rejecting him!

I am sorry to say this but Chihaya really has to go through some sort of development. It's been a while since I felt that she is the MC of this manga.

Spoiler:

I am not sure how to explain this chapter. It was simply amazing. T_T

Chapter 207

Spoiler:

Super adorable.

And if it hadn't been already, I think it is safe to conclude that this manga is no longer about Chihaya. It's about Taichi.

Thank you so much for the spoilers. What Chihaya blushes are you exactly talking about?
