boy meets supernatural girl, appocolypse
lookin for 1 like eureka 7, erementar gerad, where the main meets/finds somone not quite human, and as their friendship grows, and they have their adventure, they have to someohow avoid/change/stop the end of the world, or some other horrible outcome. gun x sword too....
like the kid is the main char, but starts weak/immature, and the friends are the baddass fighters who protect em till they find their weapon/power, and become bad ass. |

Hmm... it seems oddly reminiscicing of This ugly and beautiful world. It's a work by Gainax just as Gurren Lagann (though not even close as critically acclaimed), so that might interest you if you've seen the later.

Elfen Lied = exactly what you're looking for
Spice and Wolf = almost what you're looking for, but for the part in which the world is ready to collapse (it's more like a story based on the relationship between a human and a wolf-girl) :P I loved them both and I'm sure you'll enjoy watching them (because it's exactly what you're looking for). Also you can try : Chobits (it fits the characteristics of the anime you requested!!), maybe Vampire Knight and the other suggestions from above. |

Yeah, you would have described Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann exactly if the order of one of the events wasn't quite right.
And Shakugan no Shana fits, though it takes a while for the main character to also become badass. Pretty much everything Shakugan no Shana fits into, Fate/Stay Night also fits into. The main character also takes some time to lose his gheyness, and he never really gets badass, though the lead female's badassness makes up for it. And Code Geass doesn't really fit, since there really are no badass characters in it, the main character gets his power very early on, and the characters pretty much all stay immature the entire series. It's a good anime though, so you might still want to check it out. |
