The new Syn is actually a has a few ideas I had to make Hayate a good fighter without giving her melee.

My idea of a "melee" Hayate has always been her throwing the closing enemy back with some awesome defensive maneuver (whether through sheer power or more sophisticated maneuvering) and lobbing her even more awesome brand of fireworks at them. Her obvious mana pool doesn't require her to get down and dirty.

I have no crack pairing-wise though I do have a scenario of Subaru talking with Lutecia that's been floating around since forever..which makes far more sense and viable than the Zest/Teana I just came up with.
