I love Kirito assuming the "Black Swordsman" form as his strongest self for his battle with Quinella .
I never thought I'd be so hyped to see Kirito picking up a sword, but the moment it became clear he was about to dual-wield, my eyes were glued to the screen. I don't think red and black goes as well together as Elucidator and Dark Repulsor, but it was so awesome seeing Kirito dual-wielding again and using that to defeat Quinella, especially with the added context of Eugeo putting himself into Kirito's second sword . What irony that Quinella's "big escape" is thwarted by the pathetic servant she "swore" her body too incinerating himself with her while fondling her body. For a woman who generally prides herself on being so composed and in control, she's finally finished by one of the mongrels she so prided herself on being above. She really should've just let Kirito finish her, even if her death actually looked kind of beautiful in it's own way . Was that Quinella's human self getting one last look the world she once genuinely loved? That's the sense I got. I did kind of wonder how they were going to handle OG!Alice and Knight!Alice once it came time for our heroes to take stock of everything. I'm not sure if I could see Kirito and Eugeo "fighting" in the physical sense over it, but I do think Kirito would have some reservations about getting rid of Knight Alice after everything she's gone through/done. But I guess now it's a moot point . "Stay Cool." Man, I had already pretty much figured they were going to kill off Eugeo by this point but it hit me so hard. They had done such a great job of building up his character and relationship with Kirito that it was so sad to see him go, even if he got a fitting heroic and emotional send-off. At least Kirito finally has his memories of Rulid again, and can carry on the memories of Alice and Eugeo, as they walk off together into the afterlife . Kikuoka's choice of dress now seems extremely inappropriate when Ocean Turtle gets turned into a warzone . Those two guys are the same two men Kirito's team faced in the premier, huh? I'm guessing they'll be our new main antagonists . I love how one of the first things Kirito says to Kikuoka is to tell him how badly they screwed the Underworld up . Well, it's still "Alicization," so I guess Alice is still majorly plot relevant. I wonder what's so special about her now? Can she save the Underworld somehow ? Well, that's what you call a cliffhanger. Kirito finds out Asuna is there with Kikuoka while armed men are shooting up the place and endangering his body and then there's some kind of feedback from whatever the bad guys are doing that hits Kirito and makes him hallucinate Asuna's spirit. There isn't even a next episode preview for the next cour .

By far the best season of SAO out so far, never thought I'd enjoy it this much and I don't mean by just meme'ing the heck out of it(though it still offers plenty of those too ;3).
Making Kirito not appear like Jesus-kun, not have giving him a harem that serves little-to-no-purpose, and giving him an almost equal guy partner(unlike Klein...) that receives just as much attention & development himself, if not more, is the best thing SAO could've done. An actual rough battle vs Quinella, with plenty of banter too, was also welcomed instead of Kirito just bringing up a console or some shit to stomp the boss. "GG easy" are hardly fun(even if the memes still are). |

Conversely his fights with Heathcliff and Death Gun were much tougher.

Overall kinda disappointed with this finale. Everything leading up to the Quinella fight and the last few episodes were kinda meh. Stuff just happened out of nowhere and the moments where we were supposed to go "OH SHIEEET" fell flat. Kirito's call to the outside did re-spark some of the interest that was fading away inside me. I totally forgot about it. I hope that there's more Asuna in the next cour!

Unrelated, but i finished watching Ordinal Scale.
What i did not expect was the post-credit scene. Laughed so hard when first time i watched. This is not a Marvel movie, but the moment was worth it. Actually the post credit led me here, so. Im did not start watching this series, yet. So im thinking of watching it. |

I think that female knight with Alice fighting Eugeo is a new heroine voiced by Kana Hanazawa ?
