Well my point is Souma now has already achieved his goal in defeating Tsukasa though it was with God's Tongue's help. Most likely Erina's dish will defeat Souma's and his next goal will be defeating Erina. The problem is Souma's skills are on Saitou's level at best and so I doubt we will see Souma defeating Erina on his own anytime soon.

Honestly if Azami never took over Tootsuki, Souma and few other first years would still be appointed to the Elite Ten once the 3rd years graduate. Azami's appearance though helped getting more of the 1st years to be in the Elite Ten by removing Eizan and Nene from their seats.

it's not a matter of taste actually.. it's more about image and texture of the food
but I like how Souma tried to unlock Erina further

Indeed. There is no way Megumi is above Nene. I would have believe that ranking had Megumi is actually won a fight instead collecting another participant trophy in the match that is decide their fate.

If Azami had never shown up in Tootsuki, the Elite Ten in the next school year would have been Isshiki, Kuga, Nene, Eizan, Erina, Souma, Hayama, Kurokiba and two others. So in terms of being in the Elite Ten, Nene and Eizan have the biggest loss while Megumi has the biggest gain from Azami's appearance.

If we decide the ranking based on when the participants lost and how long they lasted, one can say that Megumi > Nene.

the problem going for this is that even if Erina does win, would her father just continue to believe that he is right about the god tongue. if we really want to change his view, doesn't erina need not to rely on her god tongue to prove a point?

Her father thinks she can't win since she's been "tainted". So she just has to prove him wrong on that. Surpassing Souma's dish which rivals or surpasses Tsukasa's should do it.

And why would we base the rankings on that when who gets to fight who was just random. Like Sixth said, Nene had the misfortune of going against the guy with plot armor. If Megumi had one win against the Elites then I would probably, maybe, agree but she got eliminated fast once she faced Momo. All that training gone to waste. And even when something was missing in Momo's dish that could have secured her the victory Megumi's dish was still not enough to beat hers.

Megumi's dish was good enough that if it wasn't missing that one thing, she could've beaten Momo. Does that mean nothing?

I get that Souma was trying to push Erin's to surpass his dish and use her speciality, but why was Erina not using her speciality to begin with? This is probably the most important match of her life so far, so she has no reason to hold back.

Probably her specialty is related to Azami. She doesn't want to use it.

Let's not forget that in the regiment teamwork increases the quality of the dish only a little and that individual skills mostly determine the outcome. Megumi was able to create a dish that almost rivaled a 3rd year's dish, so even though she received some assist she still would need to possess skills that rivals or even surpasses Nene's. God's Tongue though is able to increase quality of the dish a lot instead of little.

I think Erina hasn't realized what her specialty is. In my opinion, the dish she made in her match against Momo was the closest thing to her specialty.

Well I did laugh how Soma's entire social circle is at risk of expulsion and he just says "Screw this, I'm competing with Erina instead"
