Karin is the best Vampire romance/comedy, period.
Hellsing has some funny moments, but is mostly an action (no romance.) Tsukihime has romance to a degree, but is far from a comedy, and is widely considered a terrible adaptation of the game. Tsukuyomi I still haven't finished, but it's cute. Bit of comedy, some suggested romance, mostly just cute though. No comment on Night Walker as it looked terrible so I haven't seen it. Black Blood Brothers is another option, it was alright for what it was. Some comedy, but nothing special. Karin is where it's at for comedy vampire series, Hellsing for action. They're all you need. |

I am suprised that no one has mentioned this movie: Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. In fact, the Vampire Hunter D series can somewhat be called the definitive Vampire series in Japan, even if most of the series is confined to novel format (a new movie is scheduled some time in the next year or two).
Spoiler for Slight movie spoilers.:

Tsukiyomi Moonphase is a lolicon vampire anime, which isn't bad, its quite enjoyable actually. I'll recommend it, also Karin is good too.
Oh if you're into Manga, you absolutely must read Rosario + Vampire, its currently my favorite manga series. |

Still looking..
Hey guys, I am currently also looking for a vampire anime. Here are some i have seen.
Vampire Knight (currently watching) R+V (First season waiting for the 2nd to come out) Karin (currently watching) OOO and I have seen the one where the kid can see the lines but i forgot which that is. I'm mainly looking for a romantic/action it needs to have both. I really like vampire knight so any anime like Vampire Knight might work as well. However for the sake of this topic lets try and stick with Vampire anime. |

No love for Blood+ and Trinity Blood???? Both are action anime, Trinity Blood have more romance, but the ending is a cliffhanger. Blood+ also have some romance, but it's not the main thing.
For romance, Tsukihime, Tsukuyomi, and Karin maybe a better choice.. out of those three, Tsukihime is the more action oriented, followed by Tsukuyomi. If you also want some comedies in it, then Karin is the most comedic, followed by Tsukuyomi. The kid that can see the "lines" is from Tsukihime. Btw, Tsukuyomi have one of the cutest opening in any anime |

Don't worry, I've seen it... although I enjoyed it... I was rather sad that it was such a huge departure from the manga... hopefully season 2 ( this october ) will show off Tsukune as the god of GAR that he is. lol

I say try to look for Master of Mosquiton OVA. It's a bit older, but its a good comedy with decent story for it's time, before the Karins and the Tsukiyomis. The english dub is pretty good too, i'd recommend it just as much as the jp version.
Please, at least take a minute to look at 3:55 of this vid(jap/no subs/bad fps). To do that KNOWING he's a vampire is just TOO FUNNY XD. |

Somehow I think there is something fundamentally wrong with that statement. There haven't been any leaps in general story-telling capability in recent years as far as I know. I at least hope Tsukuyomi and Karin aren't considered signs of progress in that particular area.
