Non-Action/Romance interesting animes!
Hi!
Im currently looking for some good series, but I dont want any action or romance. I searched a lot, but it seems every series I came across had at least one of them. Here's some example of what I mean by no action/romance: -Death note -Kino's Journey -Serial Experiments Lain Do you know anything similar to those? Thanks! |

What a wide concept... no romance and no action... It can mean so many things... comedy, mistery, or something weird like Parappa...
Anyway, here are some titles... Perfect blue - It's a movie, a psychological thriller (warning, some "almost naked" girls) Monster - More in the line of death note, but with no paranormal things and a lot more violent (I don't think it can be considered as action... as 90% of the anime is dialogue) |

Monster - No real action. Great psycholgical thriller. 74 episodes of consistent goodness. Didn't need any less or more episodes, it fit perfectly. The show is about a doctor, but he doesn't stay in a hospital for very long.
I'd second Texhnolyze, it is grat show that takes place in a dystopia setting.

I'll suggest two animes that focus on board games, Hikaru no Go and Shion no Ou. In both cases young prodigies play, respectively, Go and Shougi. Hikaru is a more traditional story, showing us how the boy develops into a powerful competitor. Shion's story takes place in a much shorter time frame, and there's a murder mystery as well.
A couple of other shows in the mystery/horror genres might fit your tastes. Both of the Toei shows for Noitamina, Mononoke and Hakaba Kitaro are worth a try, as is the predecessor to Mononoke, the "Bakeneko" arc that completes Ayakashi Samurai Horror Tales. Dennou Coil is more sci-fi than these, but it also concerns dark and mysterious events. Many "slice-of-life" shows have neither action nor romance. You might want to try the Aria series, Azumanga Daioh or Hidamari Sketch. For slice-of-life shows with adult characters, I'd suggest Hataraki Man or Bartender. Romance is a concern of the characters in both these shows, but neither of them are romances. And, of course, I think everyone needs to give Monster a try.

shigofumi and shinigami no ballad does have pieces of romance in some of the episodes
Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight!-seems popular without the romance and action Ghost Hunt-pretty good horror anime, revolves around a somewhat genius who hunts ghosts for a living Lucky Stars-funny slice of otaku life and japanese life Higurashi no Naku Koro ni-Horror, high ratings on it Kara No Kyoukai-really good series, though it does have tiny bits of fighting its not focused on it. Targeted at a mature audience Kure-nai-i wouldn't call the tiny fights they have action since it really wasn't the interesting part of the story. Mainly this kid goes to school, works as a negotiator, and takes care of a little girl Haibane Renmei-though i lost interest after the first episode ALOT of others really enjoyed it Hikari no Go-about a kid learning to play go and mastering it Kaiji-about some guy who falls in debt due to a friend, enters this game where loser loses his life i think Bus Gamers-there were like 3 episodes which were specials, dunno if they plan to continue it or leave it at 3 episodes(serious hanger) |
