I did some rounds at some other sites and wow, quite a few people don't like this chapter...

too much fanservice...
to much erza and lucy fanservice...
no relevant plot reveals...
waste of space...

seriously the list goes on...

Luckily Mashima already 'warned' everyone so everyone that will be complaining for the next week: Mashima still loves you too. XD

Meantime, word of advice: Be careful where you 'Donkey Punch'.

Yay a decent chapter after the boring fights because seriously when you know even 3rd rate good characters have no chance of dieing against supposed elite level bad guys (when the strongest bad guy of an arc loses to Natsu who's not even top 5 of his guild I can't take the bad guys seriously as elite) there is no dramatic tension as so fights are completely skippable.

At least other shounen series like Naruto, HunterxHunter and One Piece show the main character losing to true "elite" bad guys!

You don't watch/read FT for the dramatic tension, you do it for the EPIC AWESOME NAKAMA POWERUPS!

I don't really agree with the opinions of those people. Walrod revealed that he was a founding member of FT and a friend of Mavis, which we already knew but needed to be known by the other characters as well, and they also had the discussion about Zeref. In terms of dialogue there was quite a bit of plot and good interactions between Walrod and FT, just visually it was fanservice.

You could have the exact same chapter with the characters sitting round a table with the exact same dialogue, and it would be boring.

And you can never have too much Lucy fanservice.

And those people are wrong.

she is not overshadow so much as almost completely forgotten by Mashima.
It is almost like bring her back wasn't Mashima idea and he has no idea what to do with her.

Say what you will, but my mouth dropped open when I saw Natsu and Gray.

And Gray's face when he says the novelty wore off a while ago = incredible. (not to mention, that line also works as meta commentary on the fans)
