Spoiler for Episode 5:

The episode is supposed to be happy and lighthearted with Hachiman's usual indifference towards life and then when the white-haired bishoujo named Saki appears, she looks villainy at first glance, works part-time as a bartender despite her delinquent appearance and even possess her younger brother who's happens to be Macchi's friend. The maid outfits looks superb, but once the last few minutes hit here, I can't help but feel horribly threatened when Hachiman's confession with Yui takes a bad turn. I still know how Yukino still sees Hachiman in her own gaze, but man, I just cannot stop being frustrated with the confession scene. I really hope her problem will be resolved in the next episode.

The episode felt a little bit more rushed than the previous one, also there it was yet another quality drop (though, not as bad as the first 2 episodes, but oh well).

I was surprised by the change on the ending sequence, and that even lights the possibility for the ending to be changed again.

The episode felt surprisingly long. When I felt it was near the end I looked at the time and it was only halfway through. Although most of it was wasted on random meaningless hijinks. I guess they were supposed to characterize this as "the toughest case yet" but basically half the episode had no purpose. In the end the moral of the story is something about family being there for each other, rather than merely not causing trouble for each other.

Of course, the big plot point comes at the end when Komachi reveals to Hikki that Yui was the dog-owner who gave her the sweets. He confronts her about it and tells her to stop being so nice to him because of it. It seems he's interpreting it as another "pity" misunderstanding which has been a running theme of his interactions with girls in the flashbacks. Honestly, it calls back directly to episode 1. I appreciate that sort of elegance in storytelling, although the rest of the series has been filled up with random events. Anyway, this all leads into another one of his speeches about how kindness is a lie because it gets his hopes up.

Also is it just me or is Yukino kind of like a side character at this point?

I think from the MC's perspective, he's suffering from a Goldilocks syndrome. Long black hair girl sells her girliness too small, bouncy orange head sells it too much, Saika sells it just right. If Saika was a girl, I think she'd get the same treatment, only more green light-ier.

I think I can relate to Hachiman for hating kind girls, cuz I hate them too for the same reason they don't pick people to be nice with....If you are a nice person you'll always be nice even if you don't like the person...theres alot in them in the real world!!!

Anyway it was a bit rush but I like it Hachiman really is a nice essay writer

Hachiman dislikes people who are generally kind to anyone. Remember how he treats Hayato? Hachiman just doesn't like anyone who is "part of the crowd".

That's why Hachiman is much nicer to Saika. Unlike Hayato and Yui who act like they're on "everyone's side", Saika's kindness is directed towards Hachiman specifically.
