Best episode so far. Clearly, jumbling up the narration of events was a good idea. If this episode had been shown back in the beginning, it would have been overwhelming and a lot of the finer points would have been lost on most people.

Wow, that was an amazing episode. I had high expectations for the Asakura x Yuki battle, but they really nailed the "supernatural battle" feel. On top of that, they followed every movement, every attack in the novel almost line for line, word for word. Since combat is rare in this series (even after 8 volumes), I'm glad to see they managed to do the ones here with brilliant accuracy and quality. I can't wait to download the 1280x720 hi-res version for this episode. ^^

The Mikuru meeting scene was also represented as-is from the novel, no corners cut. The adult Mikuru design was spot on. Good job to Gotou Yuuko-san for managing to nail the "older Mikuru" voice too.

The episode ended pretty much on a "half-way" point, just before Haruhi and Kyon sets out to Asakura's apartment. Novel wise, this episode covered page 174 - 218.

Now then, next week's episode... (Episode 13)

"The Day of Sagittarius"

Now this is surprising. We know this is going to be a Yuki-main story, and one that foreshadows Shoushitsu at that. But if they're not going to go Shoushitsu, the meaning of this episode is a little... No matter! I already said back in April that this was one episode that I wanted to see. The poor computer club president deserves a comeback!

And if Kyoani were to follow the novel closely like they did with this episode, we might actually see some silly quality SF space combat!

Oh yeah, due to the World Cup, next week's episode airtime will be moved forward to 10:30PM. So we'll get to see it earlier than usual. ^^

Amazing episode, the combat was much more than I've ever expected.
Very glad that Kyoani nailed everything in this episode, even Tanaguchi "walking in" on Kyon and Yuki part.

Also noticed that whenever someone disappears in this show, it's assumed that they moved to Canada

LOL why do we humans chose to use decimals? If we used hexadecimals, I would have rated this episode to be anywhere from 12 - 15!

12 because I've read this chapter already and I've lost the wow! factor of this episode.

15 because this episode is simply amazing! Anyone who hasn't read the novels would be totally blown away by this episode, definitely.

What can I say? I definitely don't have the imagination and creativity level of Tanigawa Nagaru, how can anyone ever come up with such a battle!? Kyoani is now officially my favourite animator, maybe I should work hard and join them someday lol!

Even though I've already read it, this battle still stuns me, I twitched upon the seeing the chaos that was on the screen, my heart was pounding. Every little detail mentioned in the novel is present in the battle and its even more unbelievably chaotic than I could have imagined.

Oh and 'She's' hotter than I expected lol

Seriously. I've always picture Day of Sagittarius 3 as a clone of Starcraft/Homeworld/Starfleet Command/Jane's Fleet Command. It is a hardcore simulation from the sound of it where micromanagement is possible by macro. I really, really want to see this... till this day I have not seen an RTS that does it all save Supreme Commander that is still in R&D and Sagittarius is just 2-D and with no reinforcement. Finally, an episode of an anime for those that are hardcore RTS gamers.

(Going back to this ep. All the Higurashi jokes on Haruhi can now get even better source materials. Mechtte for Asakura and SQL for dear Yuki.)

Hmmm mostly everyone is talking about the battle and Mikuru and these 2 items probably over shadow the little details in this episode. We should have a good discussion on Haruhi/Kyon/Ryoko, Yuki/Kyon and Mikuru/Kyon conversations when the sub is out.

a Kyoani spin that wasn't mentionned in the novel, the passing of time of the "normal couple"

I'll admit it, I laughed at the poor sap that got slapped around by that girl

and then some small details taken from the novel

Anyone think that Episode 12 will actually be Episode 12? Next week is 13/11, so it's pretty damn close. That or it will be 11/12, since Endless Eight takes place before Asahina Mikuru no Bouken.

Hmmm... Can someone fill me in on those couples? They looked like Kasdjfkla;s and Tanijdklsa, but then he/she slapped him. o_O

You mean Kunikida and Taniguchi? lol! They are both guys, though they do look like a yaoi couple

If that were the case, then they'd need another episode to explain the bamboo tree from the last episode. Which basically kills off any making-of "Asahina Mikuru no Bouken" episodes.

From what I hear, they're probably airing Day of Sagitarius for more Yuki love rather than explaining some of the treasures in ep 9.

Then again we won't know what's being aired the week after until next week

On second thought, I'd rather just enjoy what we're shown rather than guessing what they'll show next.

Until I suddenly remembered that they're going to release a 40 minute 'Director's cut' version DVD, maybe they're going to place the making process in there. And lol, seems like Itsuki's popularity is going to be further reduced, with Yuki and Mikuru stealing hearts from everyone.
