laggy internet
does anyone know how to fix a laggy internet connection?
other than getting a new cpu/graphics card/modem... i have a windows 7 if thats any help to explain my problem more in detail, out of nowhere, my internet would just lag up like crazy for anything. youtube videos, bittorrent downloads, gaming, and just browsing the internet. is it because someone else is using the same modem as me?

There is actually a ton of shit that can cause laggy internet. You could be trying to do too much at once ( Gaming on steam + torrenting at same time is a no no ) You could be losing modem DSLAM sync because your filters are not set up properly, or a problem with your ISP. It could be a virus, could be your firewall, could be your network card is either bad or improperly configured.
I could go on and on. The point is your going to have to state a hell of a lot more information about your set up before anyone can begin to help you. |

ok ill state my problem more descriptively
im using a netgear router and im sharing it with my sister's laptop. she constantly watches videos on youtube i never download torrents while gaming. i usually download my torrents at night or when im watching my already downloaded animes. im not sure about my network card, but ill look into that when my friend who is good with computers can help me with this a little. my firewall is on for both private and public connection. i have an at&t modem is there anything else i need to describe?

Well the first problem is that your sister is constantly on youtube.
Streaming videos on youtube is "like" downloading it, but watching it on your broswer. Other than that, make sure you don't have a virus on your computer and don't have any torrents running. |
