No shock I suppose that Kotori really is not that useful
![]() ![]() Oh well. A good old closed room murder is perfectly valid. Lot of interesting elements to be sure. The brother actually has valid reason to be mad enough to try for murder and wonderfully left himself with no alibi. His father is also suspicious. We are presuming that the phone call to him was legitimate and not something he made up. If he knew his son was drowning then he could have paced things appropriately to leave him no chance to survive. Plus how was someone actively drowning calling for help anyways?

It is supposed to be a medical mystery, isn't it? Then my feeling is that it's not the usual drowning, but some condition or poison that causes body fluid to rapidly accumulate in the lungs.
An extreme blood pressure spike in the lungs could do it, for example from heart failure, when blood backs up in the pulmonary veins. The grandpa looks like he has a weak heart too. For poisons there's a long list, but for example inhaling too much meth could do it, or certain pesticides. Pretty low confidence but I'll go with an inheritable heart defect. No culprit, that way Kotori won't have to change jobs. And the good brother wouldn't have it because he's a half-brother.

Locked room mystery, huh. Not much of a locked room when we know there are two sets of keys though. Someone could have just stolen the younger brother's key. His innocence is already proven since Takao needs him to be innocent to keep Kotori.

I don't think it's much of a motive. Especially for an elaborate murder like that. I want to call it natural causes. Because the dead guy was an asshole. Not that his father was blameless. |

Going to be honest my first thought with Takao's attempt to trick the police was that they definitely were going to be interrogated if Kotori is hugging a loli in his car at that time of night
![]() It's like the show heard me and decided to give Kotori a chance to sound like he knows what he's talking about. Almost like he's a real doctor ![]() ![]() Hilarious that they spent enough time discovering the whole affair thing...and it wasn't even helpful ![]()

Guessing what it is now...
The odd thing was the guy putting an ear onto the deceased's chest while he was fully clothed. Just look back a few episodes and look at a similar situation involving Gyaru-Sensei (Being a side character, that name actually stuck more than her real one ![]() One of them checked for pulse, while the other tried listening for heart beat while not even removing all the clothes. What he should have checked for is breathing. However, even if he checked for breathing there, he skipped the pulse part.

A bit weird they ended the episode there because it seems pretty obvious the culprit is the brother/uncle since he's the one who attempted to perform CPR in the video. Pretty sure the dad feeling so sick he vomited is also related to whatever happened to the victim.

Also reckon that plate which was closing off a fireplace in one room has some part to play - suppose someone used the chimney to access the locked room? |

Seems like it's murder after all. If I understood correctly, that guy who rushed in to resuscitate Daiki is the new hospital director. Probably silenced Daiki to hide his involvement in drug trade. And I guess the weapon is amphetamines, which could produce the "drowning" effect.

The conclusion was better than I expected. It turns out no murder was committed and it would have been easy to figure out if an autopsy had been allowed. The irony that the dad cremating the body to get rid of the evidence that might incriminate Seiji is exactly what almost landed him in jail is delicious.
Overall, this show was a disappointment, but I don't think the mystery were actually bad. It was more of a combination of bad animation and boring characters (they also seemed more interested in shilling Ayaneru than in the work itself). If the live action tweaks a few things (they always do), it could very well be a big hit. They cast Kanna Hashimoto who is 152cm as Takao and the guy playing Kotori is 181cm, so the height guy will be right, at least!
