Nay, that was the "protoype" chapter. It's common for mangakas to submit a short prototype chapter to the editors, and if they and the readers like the concept of this stand-alone short-story, the mangaka is given the go-ahead to expand on his/her story even more, i.e. his/her own series. The end result is the manga that's in the stores. Naruto and Bleach are other famous examples of having a short-story prototype before becoming what they're today.

This prototype stand-alone short-story chapter is included in the special Vol 13 "How to Read" manga.
