I didn't like that particular batch of episodes, but I don't really think it was the worst crap ever (honor goes elsewhere), just really mediocre-- the hate does seem overblown. But sometimes I get annoyed when some people (in general) are like "It's just like Higurashi/Umineko!" Do not lump that crap with When They Cry! Though I'd like to see any other art style-- Deen, well... -_-

While Kyoto Animation is known for their ability to adapt source material as accurately as possible, it is not known if they can handle outright horror (Full Metal Panic: TSR's more violent scenes and Haruhi's Lonely Island, nonwithstanding).
However the thought of what people call "Troll-Ani" and Beatrice has some rediculous appeal...Kihihihi. Plus the thought of even more moe Stakes, Beatrice, and Maria appeals to me.

I have just finished reading the VN to the point where this episode ends and I must say DEEN YOU SUCK!!!
I thought Umineko anime was good before reading the VN but really now I understand the rage of many VN fans. It's at least 3x better than anime. Especially episodes 14 and 15 seem so rushed and terrible compared to the source material it's painfull to watch them. The whole epicness of magical battle, Eva finding the gold, Battler and Virgilia's first talk, Evatrice's ceremony and Rosa's tortures is completly gone. |

Put it this way, the original VN is so good that even if DEEN stuffed it up it's still quite a good anime series to those that are still unsure what to expect in the next episode (ie. myself).
that's the reason, as I state again, that I prefer to watch the anime first before reading the VN.

I thought they would only do three arcs over 26 episodes initially. Overall, I think they've done a decent job with the time they had. There have been some pacing issues but at least Studio DEEN wouldn't try to stretch an episode's worth of content over eight episodes like others would. I hope the remaining episodes have better choices for BGM(less suspicion), have less animation errors, and do not exclude important scenes that would help explain what's going on.
The upcoming episodes are really important and I hope they're done well.

I'm perfectly fine with how the anime is proceeeding so far, I have no idea how much is being cut out but I assume it's nothing 100% nececcary for plot progression considering it's cut.
I'm not planning on playing the VN either unless I manage to obtain it under certain conditions. So all I have to settle with is Deen's work. My only regret is that I can't talk about the series on the same level as the VN users. D=>

DEEN is doing a good job with being faithful and showing all the truly important scenes. Someone who's only watched the anime can make theories about on the level of a VN reader. The biggest difference between the two information wise, is the VN has more red truth. But an anime watcher can quickly and easily see which lines were omitted.
