Because Shuukan Morning is a seinen publication.

These classifications have to do with the magazine that they were published in, rather than the content. (ex: Death Note and One Piece are both shounen, despite the mature subject matter in the former)

I'm about at the point where I think this need to "label" is obsessive and is used by some folks who are insecure about what they are seen reading or watching

Almost reminds me of the "girls don't play with Lego" bullcrap...

It's a simple & easy classification system that has nothing to do with sexism. Just because a show has male or females as its primary target audience doesn't mean that there can't be a significant secondary audience composed of the opposite gender (i.e. Prince of Tennis fangirls, MariMite fanboys). If a man feels insecure about watching shoujo, that's his issue... similarly, people who try to differentiate One Piece or Naruto (or whatever their favorite shounen might be) from other shounen series because they're "dark" or "sophisticated" are totally just kidding themselves. Just because shounen anthologies are aimed at boys doesn't mean that adults or girls can't enjoy the series in them. A series can target a young male demographic and still have rather mature themes; however, that doesn't alter its target audience.

I really like the shounen/shoujo/josei/seinen/etc. categories because they're the opposite of the "girls don't play with Lego" perspective. People coming from that point of view often mistakenly call titles like Love Hina and Chobits shoujo, simply because they deal with romance. You can have gritty, brutal shoujo action and tender shounen romance. To me it seems almost freeing, given that nowadays, romantic Hollywood films are automatically considered chick flicks unless they come with a heavy helping of raunchy comedy and fanservice.

Actually you got it backwards. The ones who are insecure are the ones who do not know of the origins of said material.

Example, Rozen Maiden is dismissed as "oooh, a show about dolls! That's so gay". Nevermind that even Japan's Foreign Minister is rumored to have been seen reading it's manga.

Thank you. I'd say classification of Japanese media is far more liberating.

I'll watch anything I think I'll like, but I want to know beforehand how it might play out. Know the feeling when you expect an action drama and what you get is romantic comedy? Unpleasant most of the time.

Nevermind, I'll shut up now. I sound like a feminist, or worse, a men's rights advocate. ><

From AnimeNation:

Moyoko Anno's latest manga series Hatarakiman will be adapted into an anime TV series for broadcast as part of Fuji TV's "Noitamina" series this fall.

From the "billions" of shoujo/josei manga and "billions" of shoujo/josei light novels thats out there, they decided to take a seinen manga, and broadcast an anime adaptation of it on an animation block thats aimed at females

They just know how to get on my nerves , its not like there is a shortage in shoujo/josei manga and light novels, there are lots and lots and lots of manga magazines for females, lots of comic imprints for females, lots of light novel labels for females. Noooo, don't take a manga from those, take a seinen manga thats serialized in a seinen magazine, and broadcast an anime of it in a block thats aimed at females f**k them, f**k them all, Fuji TV B*tch*s
