I've never watched any musical anime with more than 2 insert songs in one episode.
More than that, and there'll be no story...

Now that I think about it, you're right ^^;
Although I know that music isn't the main theme of K-ON!, for some reason, I still expect a Haruhi-like concert (the animation), but even in Haruhi's concert, the songs are only 2.
