Reminds me of what happened to the author of Good Ending, but this was pretty likely to happen. Kuroneko is the most popular character according to pollings. The end of Vol 7 was a pretty big deal for Kuroneko fans, and to wait five months of speculation only to have them break up and have her transferring out. It's pretty much baiting fans to rage.
I do have my doubts that Kyosuke will end up with anyone at this point. The author seems to want to keep the status quo, and you'll have raging fans no matter who he ends up with. |

I heard people were raging in the eighth novel. Can anyone explains. I don't really care about spoilers anyway.
Also Kuroneko is turning into the next Mikoto Misaka, fanbase wise.

I'm simply going to wait and see how it goes since Kuroneko has specific motives driving her choices. If those motives are realized, I can't see any reason a "win-win" scenario isn't possible.
On a side note... I do hope the author isn't simply a jerk in refusing to let the natural evolution of "what his characters want" drive the plot. That generally doesn't work well when an author tries to force their characters in un-natural directions. Its one thing (usually good) not to let the fans drive the story... but its another to jerk the characters around in ways that erodes the "suspension of disbelief".

What I would be OK with: Kirino end What I am afraid will happen: Kirino end, but it's OK because they're not actually related by blood What I do NOT want to see: Ambiguous harem ending What I would pay good money to see: Ayase + machete end, all species of otaku become extinct virtually overnight But really I think it's OK to have a little faith in Fushimi-sensei. I feel like he's done a pretty good job with the series so far,--let's look forward to the last three volumes and wait for the series to conclude before passing judgment. ^^ |

vol 8 has been #1 on the top seller list in books for the past 12 days on amazon.co.jp so if i was the author, i'd be cashing in on her popularity. he could pull a Mizuki Kawashita (ichigo 100%) and have a on again and off again with kuroneko. it's not unheard of.

I've decided to support a completely new female character appearing out of nowhere in the last novel to be the winner. At this point it makes more sense to me than the constant flip flopping the novel wants to do between Kirino and Ruri.
