The main thing that frustrates me with the LN and anime is that there's a lot of potential in the story but the writer just doesn't seem capable of delivering on it. That or else, he's as dense as Ichika is about which direction the story should be taking.

- Not necessarily. But it would need to written well. And more often than not most tv series (in general) are not written well. Harem series are written with an idiot protagonist and lots of female characters with the intention of selling merchandise based on the female characters. Sometimes it's stupid but it's fun. Other times you want to hurl a rock at your tv screen. Worst off if the series has story potential beyond the harem antics and you can see it but the writers don't.

I guess it's also dependent on the source material. A lot of current Harem anime series are based on Light Novels or Manga that are already Harem series to begin with. At best they're copying the manga word for word. At worst, they're making it worse.

Previously (late 90's-early 2000s) most Harem series were based on Visual Novel or Ren'Ai games, and some of the TV versions were not nearly as Harem-heavy (Da Capo 2 1st season for example) but still had a lot of character time for the female characters to interact with the male character. Not to say they were fantastic (God, don't remind me of what Kakyuusei 2 was supposed to be, that felt more like watching the Twilight Zone and not in a good way), but I guess I could appreciate the anime version writers trying something different.

You can't exactly say that the females are a great example of characters on merit of being female alone. How would you react to people trying to stab or render you 6 feet under? That's so overblown in this series that you may as well start looking into court restraining orders.

The girls are as considerable for fault in these series as any mc. Dense does not always happen out of nowhere.

You'd be surprised how often people will praise a female character like she was perfect regardless of flaws.

I don't watch very many reverse harem really. Used to. But only because I watched everything I could. Unless it was the level of retarded comedy of Bobobo and I'll just drop it and watch random clips.

I'm ignoring all shipping scenes and comedic stuff from now on to summarize, unless it's plot-relevant and/or particularly funny to me.

... and then having just said that, Tatenashi's characterization from previous volumes are thrown out in favour of 'love-struck girl' -.- In hindsight, negative development in IS shouldn't be surprising...

In other news, Cecilia now knows how to cook while following recipes. The results are at least edible/normal.


Ch2
Miraculously, Ichika finally started to see the people close to him as girls. Rin is the first to trigger this from him.

There's a shooting event where IS have to shoot down targets. Plot important detail: there's male mechanics on the IS Academy island. Not-important detail: instead of the IS plugsuits they had to wear bloomers to try and charm Ichika in this event.

In the military obstacle race, sleepy-pikachu is the best at assembling a rifle but the worst shot of the entire school Oh, and apparently under the 'pajamas' she normally wears she has quite a bust.

I'd ignore Ichika's lunch break with the haremettes (10 mins for each person), but he's suffering here so I'll list a few things anyway:
Rin: forced to be fed by her at cannon-point
Cecilia: made Thai hotpot with specially made chilli, Ichika's insides felt like it was burning.
Houki: Celicia's turn meant Ichika lost ability to taste, so Houki went and asked the kitchen to make him shaved ice dessert. Ichika ate too fast and got brainfreeze

The other girls did fairly alright with Ichika - though he didn't manage to eat much, and Tatenashi ended up giving him a riceball.


Ch4
Cosplay race. (for some reason we got told sleepy-pikachu has B91 chest >.>)
Nothing but blatant fanservice.

Next event, 'Balloon Fight' - Ichika's IS was forced into hibernation (huh, that can happen?) by Tatenashi and Ichika was tied onto balloons 50m up in the sky while other girls in their IS needed to blow up the balloons and make sure Ichika lands safely. This event was worth 10 million points, so all the past events meant jack all >.>
Ichika almost fell to his death in the fight, and Tatenashi had to save him - technically winning the event and gets the prize >.>

Oh hey, we have 'plot' now - Fight comes out of nowhere and disconnected from everything (unless it's TLers missing a part somewhere) on a ship somewhere. Squall is revealed to be ex-American military, though records said she died 12 years ago. Tatenashi is nerfed and almost got fried. Squall revealed to have a cyborg arm.


Epilogue
Squall revealed to be entirely a cyborg. And Autumn's lover.

After the sports festival, all of the representative candidates are located into one class, including Ichika - no more class competitions, and there'll be separate groups when tournaments come up.

Tabane made a IS called 'Black Knight' for Madoka, and Madoka says she can finally have revenge on her older sister Chifuyu. Tabane says one step at a time - use Black Knight on Ichika first.

Students with personalized ISes were all selected by the Student Council to scout Kyoto
before the actual school trip. The other students were jealous because Ichika and his harems
got to go (Duh!).
Houki, Laura, and Charlotte were happy they got to go to Kyoto, but Rin and Cecilia were grumbling.
It would be Rin's third time going to to Kyoto, and Cecilia thought London was superior to Kyoto.
It only took Tatenashi's words, "You two get to be in the same group as Ichika" to make those two happy.
Houki and the other two didn't get to be in Ichika's group.
Kanzashi who was already grouped with Ichika decided to be happy silently. Nonchalantly ✌.

One page later, Rin and Cecilia grabbed Ichika on the hallway. Rin asked if Ichika would like to
see her and Cecilia in Kyoto dancing girls' costume. Houki and the other two came and mentioned
that Rin and Cecilia should not have Ichika all for themselves. Ichika said the trip is not
for fooling around.
Tatenashi told only Ichika the actual meaning of them going to Kyoto: To suppress Phantom Task's stronghold.
Kanzashi came and went like, "Don't forget about me".

In the next scene, personalized-IS owners (the first year students pluse second year Forte Sephire and third-year Daryl
Casey) were gathered by Tatenashi for her to explained the mission.
Forte with her slangs asked if they were really going with the mission, as she already knew about it
back at her home country.
"At last, huh? President.", said the F-Cup Daryl. She got her premonition about the mission when her Hell Hound went 2.8.

Next day, everyone was in the mood for a trip. Cue some harem scene for Rin, Cecilia, Laura, and Charlotte.
Ichika, who thought he would have died, was thrown a canned orange juice by Forte.
Ichika tried to open the juice, but couldn't, as the can was geting colder and freezing that it hurt Ichika's hand.
"Got you!" said Forte. Daryl who was also there sitting with her legs crossed asked if Ichika knew nothing about Forte's IS.
She explained that the IS Cold Blood can slow and freeze the molecule.
Forte said she wished Daryl would stop doing that, and by that, Forte said "It's a SPOILER. A SPOILER."
Daryl changed her legs crossing, and asked if Ichika saw her pants, and it was red.
"Perverted kid" said Daryl.
"Ichika no Ecchi, mou shiranai" said Charlotte.


"We'll make a brief stop at Kyoto", said the bullet train's announcer in English.
In the age where the cells have high resolution camera, Ichika still brought his old analog camera.
Rin who knew how important that camera to Ichika did not laugh. Ichika said the camera was like
his bond to Chifuyu-nee. It was also the camera where Houki and Rin got their pictures with Ichika.
Cecilia came and asked Ichika to guide her in Kyoto. Seeing the two girls with Ichika, Daryl with
said, "Perverted Kid".

They arrived in Kyoto, and Ichika suggested they took a group picture at the station, and Chifuyu agreed.
Maya took a picture that would become one of Ichika's bond, even if the people in the picture
would not come together again...


Tatenashi was going out to look for an informant that she could not reach a day before, and asked Ichika to
enjoy his walk in the city.
The camera which Ichika rarely used since he entered the IS Academy was Chifuyu first present she bought
for her brother.

Charlotte paired up with Kanzashi, Houki with Rin, and Cecilia with Laura, and they separated to survery the tourist spots.
Ichika, who went by himself, spotted a white cat, and as they said "Curiosity killed the cat",
Ichika followed the cat...for 30 minutes.
When Ichika was about to stop, the cat jumped to her owner. She said "Welcome back, Shiny".
The one-armed, one-eyed(patch that looked like Data Masamune's sword polearms), red-headed girl
in a red kimono was definitely not Japanese. (Her height especially, plus the unbalance pin-heeled shoes made
her looked even taller).
The girl said, "Your seeming looks bad". She meant he has trouble with women, and told him to be careful" before taking her leave.
Ichika got an email from Charlotte regarding the destination spot, and decided to continue his journey while snapping pictures.

Ichika met with Charlotte and Kanzashi at a confectionary shop which also offered the patron the experience to wear kimonos.
The guy took a picture of those two in kimono. Some harem scenes followed.

ch2
Moved to Houki and Rin at Kamogawa Shops district. Those two were reminiscing the times when they were little. Ichika had the habit of putting unneccassy
amount of dead leaves to make fire that went out of control, and Chifuyu went angry at him and those girls. Ichika seemed not to remember those times.
As it was getting chiller, Ichika suggested them to start moving, but before that he bought them beret to keep them warm.
The girls wanted to pay him the money, but Ichika refused. Rin said she would take a good care of it, and Houki added that they
should go out on their next day off to buy him a hat. Ichika tooked a picture of them.

Scene changed to Cecilia and Laura on a rickshaw. Ichika also met Dan, who who was the driver. Dan was working part time in Kyoto
to buy a present for his girlfriend, Nohotoke Utsuho, but the author would leave the story for the another time.
Ichika sat on the middle of those girls. Laura pulled a gun at Dan's head, "Now Gotanda Dan. I'll have you show us aroud Kyoto, slowly, with safety driving,
with as much as curvy route as possible.
Cue harem antics as Dan forgot the safety drive. Then they took a picture.

Next scene, Chifuyu and Maya were waiting for the students at a bus stop. Then explosion occured in the city.
About 10 minutes or so befor that, Ichika was taking pictures, when his camera was blocked by a red kimono. The girl was shooting
to protect Ichika. Her name was Alicia Josestof Earley.
Ichika asked "What now?" Earley answered, "Your assassination, Celebrity Orimura-kun". She then pulled out her IS, the legendary Tempesta that also
in a video game that Ichika played.
She explained she lost her right hand in an accident. Tempesta formed the hand.

500 meters away.
Daryl clicked her tongue as not only the assasination was a failure, but the perverted kid got to trick another girl.
Forte was shocked to see her partner, sempai, and lover was not who Forte thought she was.
Daryl mentioned her name was Leon Meusel, the lowest rank in House of Meusel. Forte asked why would Daryl betrayed them?
She replied something like "It's my destiny. My family is cursed."
Leon invited Forte to come with her, to betray everything in this world, but the second-year refused.
Leon said it was okay for her that Forte refused. She then summoned her dark grey Hell Hound IS, and hold up the Escort Black sword.
She fought Earley. Tempesta's special ability is that it can manipulate wind.
Earley formed a wind sphere and threw it at Leon. Forte came and blocked it. She has become a traitor to both the Academy and her country.
Eary thenle threw three spears at them, but this time, Hell Hound that can control flame and Cold Blood that can command cool air formed
the Aegis Shield. It was two against one,as Autumn was tasked to block Ichika's path.
Early then performed her one-off ability - 疾駆する嵐 [Earley Tempest], creating two more Earley. It was Three against two then.
"Not bad, old hag", said Leon.
"I'm still 28", she replied.
"You're 10 years older, shitty old hag", Leon continued.
"I don't want to hear that from a shitty kid". The Earley Tempest were created by high rotating wind that can cause any armor to break.
Leon said to Forte, "We have to use 'that'", and "Let's do 'that'".
Earley said it was unladylike for young maidens to use the words 'do' and 'that'.
'That' referred to Ice in The Flame, a type of reactive armor. The bullets from Earley anti-tank riffle was stopped when
the ice absorbed the shock, and the Flame spouted them back. The two traitors ran away.
Early removed her IS and decided to go and look at how Ichika was faring... by walking...with an opened Japanese umbrella.

...The harem members captured Autumn.

Scene changed to a top class hotel in Kyoto.

"Ahh, kimochiiii". Leon was swimming naked in a pool at the Executive Floor. Squall was her aunt that lead the
Monochrome Avatar squad. Squall was waiting for her lover, but then Leon spat it out that Autumn was captured
by the first-years. When Squall planned to get Autumn back, Leon advised her aunty to wait for another chance
as the other sides had more stick then them. Squall did not like it when Leon called her 'Auntie'. She then left,
and Leon said to also naked Forte that they should go to bed.

About 10 minutes or so befor that, Ichika was taking pictures, when his camera was blocked by a red kimono. The girl was shooting
to protect Ichika. Her name was Alicia Josestof Earley.
Ichika asked "What now?" Earley answered, "Your assassination, Celebrity Orimura-kun". She then pulled out her IS, the legendary Tempesta that also
in a video game that Ichika played.
She explained she lost her right hand in an accident. Tempesta formed the hand.

Daryl clicked her tongue as not only the assasination was a failure, but the perverted kid got to trick another girl.
Forte was shocked to see her partner, sempai, and lover was not who Forte thought she was.
Daryl mentioned her name was Leon Meusel, the lowest rank in House of Meusel. Forte asked why would Daryl betrayed them?
She replied something like "It's my destiny. My family is cursed."
Leon invited Forte to come with her, to betray everything in this world, but the second-year refused.
Leon said it was okay for her that Forte refused. She then summoned her dark grey Hell Hound IS, and hold up the Escort Black sword.
She fought Earley. Tempesta's special ability is that it can manipulate wind.
Earley formed a wind sphere and threw it at Leon. Forte came and blocked it. She has become a traitor to both the Academy and her country.
Eary thenle threw three spears at them, but this time, Hell Hound that can control flame and Cold Blood that can command cool air formed
the Aegis Shield. It was two against one,as Autumn was tasked to block Ichika's path.
Early then performed her one-off ability - 疾駆する嵐 [Earley Tempest], creating two more Earley. It was Three against two then.
"Not bad, old hag", said Leon.
"I'm still 28", she replied.
"You're 10 years older, shitty old hag", Leon continued.
"I don't want to hear that from a shitty kid". The Earley Tempest were created by high rotating wind that can cause any armor to break.
Leon said to Forte, "We have to use 'that'", and "Let's do 'that'".
Earley said it was unladylike for young maidens to use the words 'do' and 'that'.
'That' referred to Ice in The Flame, a type of reactive armor. The bullets from Earley anti-tank riffle was stopped when
the ice absorbed the shock, and the Flame spouted them back. The two traitors ran away.
Early removed her IS and decided to go and look at how Ichika was faring... by walking...with an opened Japanese umbrella.

...The harem members captured Autumn.

Scene changed to a top class hotel in Kyoto.

"Ahh, kimochiiii". Leon was swimming naked in a pool at the Executive Floor. Squall was her aunt that lead the
Monochrome Avatar squad. Squall was waiting for her lover, but then Leon spat it out that Autumn was captured
by the first-years. When Squall planned to get Autumn back, Leon advised her aunty to wait for another chance
as the other sides had more stick then them. Squall did not like it when Leon called her 'Auntie'. She then left,
and Leon said to also naked Forte that they should go to bed.

As much as I'd appreciate the info on Vol. 9 and 10, it doesn't really help me as much. I have a fanfic and it ties into the actual light novels, and summaries are not enough. I need to actually read them so I can get as much info as possible and incorporate it into my fic. Basically, I need someone to fully translate Vol. 9 and 10, with Baka-Tsuki practically abandoned it.

But is there any chance that you know what month(s) does the events of Vol. 9 and 10 occur? Because the month of November is a significant month for my characters in my fic.

Me too. You can read it here. As I said in the foreword, I wrote it as soon as Volume 8 came out, so chronologically, I placed it at November 20, with the years used as my invention based on information I read in places, to avoid any problems so far.
