A kiss on the cheek after 15 episodes of eroge playing such a huge part, that's very sad! I didn't know it was ending, I was surprised.
Did we ever find out if Kirino and Kyousuke were closer when they were younger and if so what happened for it to change? I can't even remember now. Last edited by Jerseykid; 2011-06-01 at 06:40. |

it wasn't that obvious until later, but it's definitely a "curse" since it's a seed that planted and kyo will always remember.... |

Wait a sec. THIS is Kirino (O.o)!?!?!? She showed none of the bitchiness that she had all the way up to her leaving Japan, and now we finally see her, and she's become far more likable than before; no punches, slaps, or kicks, and only sarcastic insults which only good friends tend to do. If only she started acting this way halfway through the series, I could have been spared facepalming myself at the ridiculousness of her personality.
Ironically, for once, I WANTED her to punch Kyo in the face after he started spewing things like, 'I can't live without you!' and tearing up, especially when, for me, she hasn't done anything worthy of being wanted by Kyo so badly. Maybe subconsciously, he's a masochist =0\. I can't forget about her ruining Kuroneko's confession. I almost believe that if Kyo didn't conveniently get that email when he did, things would have turned out a bit different. At the very least, he wouldn't have f'king INSULTED her confession by replying that he's going after Kirino . I almost want to say he didn't deserve that kiss, but he's helped Kuro(or tried to help her) enough, so it was certainly warranted. |

My views are similar to Reckoner and Archon_Wing's.
It was startling to see Kirino act like an actual human being for a change. Startling in a good way mind you. I also liked how her getting dominated by Americans at track and field took a bit of a Mary Sue edge off of Kirino. All-told, this episode did wonders for Kirino's character. But, yeah, Kyousuke was the one who's actions and behaviors seemed over-the-top in this episode. His overall handling of Kuroneko's implied romantic confession (which the kiss should make abundantly clear even to Kyousuke) was a bit disappointing. But I'll forgive him here since Kuroneko hurt the mood a bit herself with the pointed insults and the insistence that Kyousuke go help out his sister. All-told, this was a classic cocktease moment that I generally dislike, but realize is a frequent staple of romantic drama. So what really raised eyebrows for me was the sheer desperation that Kyousuke showed in trying to get Kirino back to Japan (including his emotional breakdown in front of her in particular). It's very hard for me to swallow this as arising from typical sibling affection alone. It only really makes sense when viewed through a romantic lens, I think... People hoping for an incest end in this anime hence have reason to cheer. As for myself, though, it has long been my hope that this anime would primarily be about two siblings patching up their differences and rebuilding their relationship as siblings (with otaku cultural issues also looming large and at the very least framing this renewed sibling bond). So I'd personally prefer to see Kyousuke end up with Kuroneko (or, alternatively, Manami). Still, for managing to make Kirino come across as a somewhat realistic human being, and even making her downright likable in this episode, I vote this one 8/10. ... Oh, and yeah, loved the little Nanoha parody. I guess there's no doubt now of what anime Meruru is spoofing. XD

I totally forgot about Kirino and tbh I thought this episode was going to be about Kuroneko again (Yay!) till I saw some screenshots of Kirino (what?!) Suddenly Kyousuke got a message from Kirino which serves as the foundation for the rest of the episode and what a bad timing as well since Kuroneko's message came first.
Oh well the heroine has to come back at some point. So second season please soon |

I dunno about the rest of you - but this is the same Kirino that we've seen the whole time. This "softer" side that y'all see now has been there all along. Of course, all that bitchiness of hers has been overlaying this soft side.

=== In any case, the ending should have left her in America continuing to chase her track dreams. At the same time, Kyousuke returns to Japan with news of her being OK. Beating one person, and then heading back? I dunno. That doesn't feel to be up in Kirino's standards. It felt more like a cop-out to bring her back to Japan. But, whatever. If anything, second season (if there will be one) could have started with her finally returning on her own.

kurara have many jobs, she's one of my favorite side characters. especially in the maid cafe when she makes future appearances in the novel.
they pretty much follow the novel for the most part. so i'm sure it'll make more money if they come out with season 2 & 3..... |

I believe he's referring to the three-man jump at the end
Anyway, Kirino's reason for failing on track in America was because Kyosuke wasn't there, and in the last moment shined Kyosuke's monologue at the end was surprisingly well done. And lol at Kirino cockblocking Ruri I think we'll have a season 2 once the LN finishes up. From my understanding we're nearing the end for the LN.

Actually, that'd be great if they sync'd a second season with the last LN. I don't think this adaptation has been quite as good as Toradora! (mostly due to the flattening out of Kirino's character) but Toradora was *immensely* helped by having the "whole story" to work with (sync'ing the last novel with the last season) and coordinating inputs from the author.

Can someone explain me why Kyousuke is missing Kirino so much? All his life he was bitching about her being a pain in the ass what was true, she never did anything good. They did get closer along the series but definetly not enough to the point of crying and shouting "I need you", felt more like he came after his lost love...
