New EP starts now, I'll make a summary as it goes:

Spoiler for EP16:

-heart rip scene very "casually", Blondie just stands there and simply rips off Illya's heart
-Shirou stands up calls out on Blondie to "wait!"
-Blondie prepares 4 gates, but Shinji calls out to him to wait a moment
-opening
-COMMERCIALS
-Shinji offering alliance with Shirou, Shirou refusing (not sure about this)
-Rin appearing from top of stairs aiming at Shinji with her hands
-Blondie mentioning something about Rin (probably her being a good "vessel" candidate)
-Shinji offering alliance with Rin, Rin refusing (not sure about this)
-Shinji is furious, tells Blondie to kill them, but Blondie refuses saying that they don't have much time while refering to Illya's removed heart
-Shinji reluctantly leaves with Blondie
-Shirou and Rin buried Illya off-screen outdoors and now stand before her grave
-"Your distortion" talk between Shirou and Rin
-Shirou and Rin start moving away from the castle and do a strategy meeting next to the old church where the Fate route's first sex scene happened
-Shirou reveals that the Blondie guy is actually the legendary hero Gilgamesh! (finally don't have to say "Blondie" anymore)
-Suddenly Lancer appears!
-Shirou and Rin squabble about what formation they should use against Lancer, to the point that Lancer just watches amusingly
-Lancer reveals that he has no intention to fight them, but instead offers a temporary alliance
-"Rin-sama embarrased and angry" Shirou agrees with Lancer's temporary alliance only if he does not make advances toward Rin
-anime original discussion between Archer and Kuzuki with little Caster flashback scene to her own life
-Shirou, Rin and Lancer having a strategy meeting in rainy night in the city under a shrine-like roof
-They decide that Lancer will fight Archer and Assassin will not be present because he is bound to the Ryuudou temple
-Shirou and Rin arrive at Caster's base with Archer awaiting them, then Lancer enters physical form and talks to Archer, Shirou and Rin advance to the church
-Archer and Lancer dash at each other with weapons in hands
-Rin, inside the church tells Shirou something while showing him the pendant
-ending

-preview for next EP shows the chess pieces of both fights, with "suspicious weapons" aiming at the fight scene inside the church

Illya never realized that agreeing to be an organ donor would be like this.....

Rin's kind of known for a while now, but it appears she's finally verbalized and accepted that Archer is Shirou, with her comments and the pendant at the end.

Shirou, on the other hand, either is dumb as a post for not understanding what she was saying, or he's being the man and swiping it aside as immaterial for the task at hand (while I have very little respect for Shirou, I admit the latter is a character trait he's shown many times before; though the same could be said for the former).

And just from his name, Shirou suddenly knows everything about Gilgamesh's servant attributes?

I still don't understand Kuzuki very well...is his purpose is just to contrast other characters? To show that even an overly stoic man with corrupt morals is in some ways more humane than Shirou?

In the VN and also in the F/Z anime, it was explained that masters receive some understanding of a servant's abilities just by looking at them.

Id say that she has guess of what might be happening, but is unlikely that she conected all the dots since she still lacks info (and has extra info from Archer than Shirou due to her linked dreams)

As this time is theres other plausible explanations aside the true one

The "Trace On " scene will make it clear, but until then id say that she wasnt sure of what to think, same with Shirou.

Honestly on that situation "Seems we have 2 pendants when there should be only one" looks quite minor compared with the "We are betting our lives against an overpowered ancient magus" Caster encounter that they were about to face, so its pretty normal that it just gets glanced on.

Imo Kuzuki has a similar motive to fight to Shirou. Hes an empty person that only could acknowledge his own existance, thus good and bad are just a matter of perspective to him. He helped Caster just because she asked for it similar to how Shirou behaves when his classmates ask him to do this and that

I can't explain my theory with out bringing F/Z, but I think Kiritsugu taught him in their free time some world knowledge or either Shirou has a thing for kings of past times.

Does that include the backstory? Like, Shirou was saying that Gilgamesh has the original version of the noble phantasms and the nature of the storage. That seems beyond mere understanding of abilities.

Also, if that's the case, why does it look like Shirou is explaining it to Rin? Shouldn't they both get the same information?

That seems plausible, although I think it's still a stretch to say that knowing Gilgamesh's myth/legend would make Shirou understands that the weapons Gilgamesh used are the original version, unless it's part of his tracing ability.

If you mean the whole talk about his weaponry that has to do with the fact Shirou has been able to analyze Noble Phantasms ever since he projected Archers swords.
