Since Hayate does not have a 3rd season confirmed yet and only Nanoha has managed to crack the top 8 alone after winning the whole thing, I don't see Azusa or Nagi making an impact in 2011. Still, if Mikoto makes it next year, stay away from Azusa.
Azusa is going to get knocked out early next year, unless Azusa is as strong and consistent as the White Devil. Azusa surely has proven so with an amazing back-to-back track record thus far, but I think she may finally be at the end of her rope.
As for BiriBiri as the road block, I call that Azusa was handicapped this year XD so not even a road block there, especially considering how much trouble Miyako gave BiriBiri. If there was really going to be any road block, it would have been Tenshi, but I'm pretty sure she was assassinated by Yamada. Shana would have been one in semis if the Rie-killer wasn't around.

no...
Tenshi (assuming she appears in the Angel Beats! OVA). After humiliation in both AST and KBM, she deserves to win one... not to mention we don't know if Touhou will be out past the cutoff date yet.

Kyoto Animation....

There has been at least one KyoAni character in the Top 8 in Saimoe since 2005.
2005: Kannabi No Mikoto - Air
2006: Nagato Yuki - Haruhi
2007: Izumi Konata and Hiiragi Tsukasa - Lucky Star
2008: Hiiragi Kagami and Hiiragi Tsukasa - Lucky Star as well as Sakagami Tomoyo, Ibuki Fuuko, and Furukawa Nagisa - CLANNAD
2009: Hirasawa Yui - K-ON
2010: Nakano Azusa - K-ON

Of course J.C. Staff has managed to have at least one girl in the Top 8 every year since the beginning. (2002 had both "Osaka" (Azumanga Diaoh) and Kouzuki Miyu (UFO Baby) representing that studio.)

Rock and roll!

I'm already 3 pages late for the party, but still, congratulations to Azusa and her devoted fans for their hard-earned victory. Yes, we nyan indeed. Also, kudos to Nagi's fans for standing by her till the very end, it was a good fight. Either way the match went today, history was made. Saimoe this year is a good end for me. I had a lot of fun with all the love, hate, glory, despair, disappointment and accomplishment. That's why I continue to follow Saimoe despite everything thrown against me.

To all the people I've met and encountered in this thread, thanks and see you all again next year for Saimoe 2011!

Now, to finish watching the second half of K-ON's second series...

Hoping to see the wonderful girls of Gensokyo next year, if their doujin show makes the cut (not just the cutoff, but the eligibility as well).

Finally, also hoping to see Kanade again next year. I want to see her receive the Mandate of Heaven and rule as Saimoe 2011 Champion.

We also don't know if Touhou will be considered to qualify even if ufotable's little project does make it within the cutoff date. Suffice to say, the biggest hurdle for Touhou will be the attitudes of people: whether to even let it qualify and then whether to assassinate it as fast as possible.

When I was young I felt Touhou needed to make its mark on Saimoe. Now I no longer care - the spread of the Touhou zone in Comiket and the fraction of all Pixiv entries marked with the Touhou tag are what matter to me. The day Touhou will enter Saimoe is the day ZUN takes a break from making games and comes up with a plot for a commercial Touhou venture.

And with this, I now close the 2ch mgmt thread that's been open for the past 3 or 4 months and remove the thread subscription to this thread. Cheers, everybody. Hopefully see you guys again next year.

And a late congratulations to Azunyan! Glad to see the K-ON! faction has avenged their lost from the previous year.

Well it was fun, but now I'm already looking forward to next year. I (of course) have high hopes for Kirino and Ika-Musume, but that's just my personal bias talking.

Ah well, time to go back to the drawing board. Maybe your next bid will be a winning one.

Nagi will never give up.

Congrats to Azusa and her supporters.

Azusa almost caught up with Rika...just a few votes short. (still not up to Rena vs. Kagami or Fate vs. Suigintou (with Satoko))
No one is going to catch Suiseiseki vs Fate with all these bans in place.

I'll be posting an archive of what I have later, but for now this will do.

Appropriately enough, volume 1 no. 1 of this headlines thing started off with Azusa, and the season ends with her on the headlines.

Good Saimoe end is good. Credits roll in the later post

1-0. Perfect end achieved.

It was an epic year guys; Saimoe wouldn't have been as fun without a bunch of us raging and cheering together. A special thanks to those who contributed to synchroom, did translations, manage tracker, and just generally made life easier for us. A big pat on the back for the Nagi supporters as well for the close match.

Saimoe 2010 Pick Records:
1-0 (Final)
1-1 (Semifinals)
3-1 (Quarterfinals)
4-4 (Blockfinals)
17-7 (Round 2)
33-37 (Round 1)

And now to await Saimoe 2011.

EDIT: @keroro gunsou: Azusa is an angel indeed
