I was right, this was not simple. I found myself in a very uncomfortable position as Fate, Suzuka, and Arisa talked to each other. I had every intention of jumping in the conversation, save for the fact that it would be quite awkward for me to talk to them like we where friends when they just know me as lost relative of their Nanoha. And that is another thing; do these versions of Suzuka and Arisa know about magic? In that case I would really have careful.

“Hello? Yukari? Are you awake in there?” Arisa was giving me that classic glair of hers. Guess I zoned out.

“Um, yes Arisa-san. What is it?”

“I asked you what you do. Are you a student or something?”

What do I do? How should I answer that? I am an instructor for the TSAB, that what I do but I can’t say something like that. I need an earth job. Mou, I never did think about what I wanted to do in life before I got involved in magic. The only two things I have done are going on missions for the TSAB and teaching their…

“I am a teacher…” Wait, I don’t know of any 19 year old teachers, “in training.”

“A teacher in training?” Arisa sure knows how to doubt someone.

“Yeah, I am in school learning how to become a teacher. I wanted to help people reach their highest potential, so I decided to do that.” It’s not a lie, just a modification of the truth.

“Oh well that is very nice.” Suzuka responded this time, “I always thought that your cousin would be a nice teacher. She is such a kind person. You should ask her is she would consider choosing that for a career. She doesn’t seem to know what she wants to do in life. I think if she becomes a teacher her students would love her.”

They call me every single rotten name in the book during training.

“When I see her I’ll talk to her about it. Well I would hate to leave now but we need to get going. I got a really busy day. Fate, weren’t you going to show me some of the stores around town.”

“Um yes, Yukari-san”.

“It was nice meeting you Suzuka-san and Arisa-san.” We both got up and waved goodbye to the girls getting kind waves back. Once outside I sighed and looked over at my cute little escort.

“That was hard; it would have been much easier to tell them that I was an older Nanoha. I mean we could just tell them that it was some sort of transformation magic gone bad or something.”

“We can’t tell them something like that,” The little blond looked up at me. “How can we explain magic to a regular civilian? Your parents were one thing but Suzuka-chan and Arisa-chan, that’s something else.”

“Oh, I see.” I scratched my head as we walked down the street. “In my world those two found out about magic during the Book of Darkness Incident. It was a great help during school when we…. Never mind I shouldn’t talk about such things. Well, let’s go get some clothes.” I pull my little friend along as I booked to towards the clothing stores. The quicker I can get out of these pants the better.

I leave the shopping experience to some one else.

You should ask her is she would consider choosing that for a career. She doesn’t seem to know what she wants to do in life. I think if she becomes a teacher her students would love her.”

They call me every single rotten name in the book during training.

“When I see her I’ll talk to her about it. Well I would hate to leave now but we need to get going. I got a really busy day. Fate, weren’t you going to show me some of the stores around town.”

Awkward conversation is awkward indeed. I loled a little at the Arisa-'Yukari' conversation, because it is true that Nanoha would be hard pressed to actually join into a conversation with a bunch of kids that she 'doesn't know'.

That being said, if I didn't have a Japanese test to study for right now, I'd claim a part. Perhaps when I get back.

With a shake of her head she continued on her path through the aisle and putting only the items on her shopping list into the cart. 'I swear, that girl has a sweet tooth that puts Fate to shame. Honestly, all those snacks...I need to teach her how to shop properly within a budget.'

Vivio scuffled her foot across the floor as she turned and walked back the way she had come. "Jeez, I'm sixteen already, I can pick a few things out..." Sadly she put her fruit snacks back on the shelf. As she turned She looked at Fate, who was smiling at her happily.

"Let's..." She began, taking a few of Vivio's items top go pay out for on her own. "Keep this a secret from Mama, okay?"

"Fate-mama, thank you." She smiled brightly and allowed herself to be pet a few times. "You're the best!"

Otherwise good but Jail relying in talking of morals and values to a person who just slaghtered your guards and whose every friend you just killed doesn't really compute

”Now that you've done eating, can I ask you about those terms?” Yuuno sighed. The information was suppose to be secret but Yuuno managed to buy Same off with a dinner.

”Sure, shoot.” Same leaned back in his seat.

”Who's Ortivale?” Yuuno started.

”Anchient red dragon, who originally was in charge of creation and maintaining the balance of worlds, but then he started delegating his work to worthy people and so gods were born.” Same explained to Yuuno, who was astounded that this man could speak with such accuracy.

”You mean all gods were people once?”

”Uhu.” Same nodded fiercely. ”You can imagine how bored Ortivale is in his hole, so for his amusement he creates Toy Worlds where he creates wars and disorder for his own amusement. All while searching for the perfect world. He doesn't care of the balance in these worlds nor does he have to. They carry different rules than other worlds. Eventually some superior human beings were born in these worlds and he gave them a part of his job.”

”Selshin was one of Toy Worlds?”

”It indeed was.” Same nodded again. ”I saw it's destruction miles away. When the world starts to forget the teachings and abandon blessings given to them, they destroy it in an apocalyptic way and create another one. We got it pretty easy with planet wide flash flood. I heard the previous one got flesh eating plague.” He shivered exaggeratedly.

”Teachings? You mean Selshin magics?” Yuuno asked and Same nodded.. ”How would you describe a superior human?” He continued.

”Do something godly.” Same answered, folding his arms on his chest.

”Non-describeable, huh?” Yuuno leaned back in the cushioned seat. ”Alright, what are the Tools of Blessing?”

”When Ortivale creates Toy Worlds he implants one special thingie that will inherit to everybody in the world. This thingie makes the Tools of Blessings activate.” Same took a short break.

”Propably the 24th chromosome pair...” Yuuno deduced.

”I don't know what this thingie is.” Same continued, lifting his shoulders and shaking his head. ”There are three kinds of Tools of Blessing. Dices, Roulette and Globes of Fate. Dices are held by Ortivale himself and they choose how worthy a person is. Roulette is held by the Nameless Entity of Fate and Destiny. I think that thing is has even higher position than Ortivale. Dices choose how many globes this Entity creates for the roulette and the roulette chooses which god gets the globe. These globes can be used to give blessings to people. Globes have activation time of five years, but usually they are used before that. If they aren't used within that time, they will be used on the person they were assigned to with a blessing of a god, who previously touched it.”

”You sure know how to explain. My image of you has complitely changed.” Yuuno complimented. ”What was that place in the portal?”

”Land of the Dead, Lucine's office. Goddess of Darkness and Souls, Lucine, is in charge of that place.”

”Lucine? She's your wife and you're her acolyte, right?” Yuuno asked and Same nodded proudly. ”But Saluti-san said that I would die from touch. Uhm... How do you guys exactly... do things?” He stuttered slightly.

”That was just because of the portal. You don't go to the Land of the Dead alive.” Same winked.

”I see.” Yuuno leaned backwards. ”That place didn't look so dark. How exactly can she be Goddess of Darkness?”

”Just a title, don't take it too seriously.” Same waved and turned his head away. ”Her power isn't eve...” A powerful pulse hit the coffee shop, shattering the glass.

”What the hell was that?” Yuuno covered himself from the glass splinters and rose up from his seat.

”No idea, but I think it's my job to check it out.” Same winked and grabbed a shadow of a table. ”Hop on.” He gestured and jumped on the table.

”Go!” Yuuno said when he was on the table. Flying was prohibited in Mid-Childa without a permission but there was nothing about floating with shadow.

”Lanlai-chan!” A pink haired girl screamed when a black haired girl opened her eyes.

”Oh, good day.” Lanlai smiled from the bed.

”Are you okay?” Caro asked with glassy eyes.

”Surprisingly, yes.” Lanlai lifted her upper body and leaned on the wall behind her. ”Sorry that I made you worry.” She smiled and laughed little.

”It's okay if you're okay.” Caro answered her smile with her own. ”Fate-san, she is awoke.” She yelled, turning her head.

”Caro, could watch the porridge for me.” Fate said, walking to the bed.

Caro gave an uneasy look at Lanlai ”I'm okay. Really.” She answered and gestured Caro to go ahead.

”I'll be right back.” Caro hopped to the pot in the kitchen.

”How are we feeling?” Fate asked, sitting on the bed.

”Like my heart was being hammered by spiked maul and I feel like crying my eyes out again.” Lanlai answered, smiling.

”You shouldn't hold anything inside, we're here for you.” Fate adviced and pet the girls hair.

”Can't do that. I'd worry Caro-chan. Right now the only thing keeping me alive is the thought of her having this same pain.” Lanlai laughed uneasily. ”I'll cry when she isn't around. Will you be there for me?” She asked, lowering her voice.

”We will be there for you.” Fate continued to pet the girls head.

”Thank you.” Lanlai closed her eyes.

”You're strong to be able to keep it all inside you so well.” Fate complimented the girl's devotion.

”I'm pretty good actor.” Lanlai laughed.

”There's nothing you need to fake here.” Fate checked that Caro was still in the kitchen.

”We all have masks. You have yours don't you?” Lanlai opened her eyes.

”What are you talking about?” Fate blinked and stopped petting the girl's hair.

”Even Nanoha-san has her own.” Lanlai closed her eyes again. ”You know that Aren-nii drained her emotions, right?” Fate nodded as an answer even that Lanlai couldn't see it. ”Want to know?” A malicious smile grew on her face.

”No, those things are private.” Fate stated firmly.

”Really? Not interested?” Lanlai opened her eyes.

”Absolutely not.” Fate shook her head. ”If she wanted to let me know she would tell me herself.” She smiled.

”Your resolution astounishes me. You really don't want to know the feelings of your better half?” Lanlai moved closer to Fate.

”We're nothing like that.” Fate denied firmly.

”Like what? I meant as friends.” Lanlai smirked. ”Let me guess your thoughts. Couple?” She moved even closer. ”Hot lovers?” Lanlai placed her finger on Fate's nose. ”Eternally together?” She smiled deviously.

”None of those.” Fate answered with the finger on her nose.

”Then why are you blushing?” Lanlai lied and pushed herself back on the bed to lean with her back on the wall. ”How is it even possible you've managed to hide it all this time?”

”I'm not hiding it-anything.” Fate corrected too late and turned her head away from the girl.

”Sorry, this takes my mind off from my own proplems. I managed to forget them for the whole time I teased you.” Lanlai laughed guiltily. ”Sorry, it's an old habit. You know, I was the frienly interrogator of the knights and second half of the undercover team, so I'm really good at gathering information.”

”Friendly?” Fate blinked.

”Miachell-nee was the unfriendly.”

”I see...” Fate moved closer Lanlai again. ”Don't do that again. We have more pressing issues.” She rose up and rustled the girl's hair a little.

”So there really is something but it's not just important for the time being?” Lanlai deduced.

”...” Fate froze and realized her own blunder.

”I won't tell.” Lanlai beamed from the bed.

”O-okay...” Fate stuttered and walked towards the kitchen.

”You know the offer of getting Nanoha-san's emotions from her is still possible.” Lanlai offered.

”Wait! You didn't know those from Aren?” Fate ran back to the girl.

”He would never tell.” Lanlai shrugged. ”And I knew you wouldn't ask.” She smiled again.

”Master schemer...?” Fate shivered, walking back to the kitchen.

”Fate-san, was Lanlai-chan really ok?” Caro worried when Fate staggered back.

”On the outside atleast.” Fate sat on the couch and sighed deeply.

”I'm taking this to her.” Caro asked and ran to the bed with a porridge bowl.

”How's Lanlai?” An exhausted male person panted from the entrance.

”Aren, what are you doing here?” Fate asked and rose from the sofa.

”Nanoha-san told me that something happened.” Aren searched the room and found the two girls on the bed.

”You met Nanoha?” Fate blinked.

”Yeah, she came flying to the scene and told me that I was propably needed here more.” He said and jumped to the bed area. ”What happened Lanlai?”

”I'll tell you later. Explain to Fate-san what happened first.” Lanlai smiled, eating the hot porridge.

”Uh... Okay. Me and Shari were pretty close to the place, so we were first there. Same and Yuuno came flying little later.” Aren explained with speed close to his running. ”It was weird to find Erio in the middle of it all.” He folded his arms in front of him and nodded.

”Erio? What could he be doing there?” Fate pondered.

”Is Erio-kun alright?” Caro raised her voice a little.

”How could I know, he was unconscious.” Aren lifted his shoulders.

”Aren-nii...” Lanlai brought her hand on her face and slid it slowly away from it.

”Where is he now?” Caro asked.

”Hospital perhaps. Maybe we should call them.” Aren scratched his chin.

”Caro, do you want to go to Erio?” Fate asked, walking to the bed area.

”I do but...” Caro took a look at Lanlai.

”I'm okay. Really.” Lanlai smiled. ”Go ahead.”

”If you say so.” Caro nodded and began running out of the room.

”Did nothing really happen here?” Aren jumped in front of Caro.

”Like I said. I'm perfectly fine.” Lanlai sighed and placed the empty plate on the coffee table.

”Okay, I'll fly you there.” Aren crouched to Caro's level.

”But isn't that illeagal?” Caro asked innocently.

”Don't worry. My spells aren't recorded in my device.” Aren grinned, tilting his head and the two ran out of the room.

”Now...” Lanlai took a deep breath. ”If you excuse me, I'll be taking my mask off for a while.” She brought her hand to her mouth and tears started running her cheeks.

Ahaha.. that part with Jail was due to a combination of things I guess. He's deranged, frightened and yet still defiant at the same time. I suppose in a way he was trying to save his own skin by pushng Nanoha into self-loathing. He fails of course considering how resolute she was, but he was desparate enough to throw morals at her face simply because he knows that the old Nanoha would have stopped in her tracks, and he ALSO knows how psychotic (retarded) his own self is in comparison, but still doesn't care.

Anyway. Thank you to everyone who read and commented on my story. The general response has been good and I'm rather surprised to tell the truth, since I had no idea how to write these kinda fics when I started. Do people want more of them I wonder? :3

"About five months." Nanoha informed her with a grin.

"Right... five months... Yeah..." Her mind tried to work. "Mai.... mai bifday.... your... bifdai... an.....an...an..."

"And tonight." Nanoha snickered and sat her down on their bed. "Whoa, don't fall over!" She was glad Fate asked Hayate to take care of Vivio for the night just in case her fellow enforcers did talk her into drinking. "Can you sit here for me?"

"Yes." Fate nodded, watching Nanoha walk away form her and slowly start to turn sideways. Just when she thought her friend would topple over, her face hit the carpet and body fell after her. "Ow..."

"Fate-chaaaaan." Nanoha walked back over to her and lifted her back up to lay on the bed. "Here, I'll just change you myself." Her hands started undoing the buttons on the blonde's shirt.

"Mmm.... Undressing me? So bold."

Nanoha blushed hard, fumbling a moment before picking up. "Jeez, I forgot you get turned on like this..."

"I da' not." Fate purred out the words.

"Shush." She put a finger on her friend's lips. "Close your eyes and rest." To make sure they were closed she moved her face over her friend's and looked into deep red orbs. "Fate-chan?" Her lips were met in a quick kiss. "Mou." Another kiss, a third, and a fourth. Hands snaked around her and she was rolled over. "Fate-chan! Stop!" Another kiss. "Mou-mmph- You're acting- mmm- stop it!"

Fate finally stopped, face looking hurt. "but... I want to kiss you."

Face red, Nanoha shook her head. She and Fate were close, but had yet to cross the line of friends and lovers. "I don't... not like this..."

Fate didn't seem to understand, mind still groggy from the alcohol. "Oh-kai." Instead she smiled sweetly down at her. "Later? Win nut drank?"

Proposing to pick up later? Surely she would forget this..." Okay," She answered honestly. "We can kiss later."

Fate seemed proud. Her lips turned up in another smile and she hiccuped.

Nanoha knew that look. "Get off me! NOW!" shoving the blonde away, she grabbed Fate'swaist and hauled her to the bathroom to hold up the hair while Fate lost what was left in her stomach. "Oh gross!"

Haha. Please continue when Fate is sober...and remembers Nanoha's promise for "another time"

It's too bad Arisa and Suzuka don't know about magic... But really funny. Arisa and 'Yukari' was really good.

"Mou, Vivio," Nanoha sniffed at her. "We're not getting a bunch of stuff like that, go put it back." With a shake of her head she continued on her path through the aisle and putting only the items on her shopping list into the cart. 'I swear, that girl has a sweet tooth that puts Fate to shame. Honestly, all those snacks...I need to teach her how to shop properly within a budget.'

Vivio scuffled her foot across the floor as she turned and walked back the way she had come. "Jeez, I'm sixteen already, I can pick a few things out..." Sadly she put her fruit snacks back on the shelf. As she turned She looked at Fate, who was smiling at her happily.

"Let's..." She began, taking a few of Vivio's items top go pay out for on her own. "Keep this a secret from Mama, okay?"

"Fate-mama, thank you." She smiled brightly and allowed herself to be pet a few times. "You're the best!"

That was cute. Fate is kind of a push over when it comes to Vivio.

The pencil was tapped furiously on the desk.

She had been doing this motion for the past few dozens of minutes continuously.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

The lead was already almost gone and small black dots littered the table.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

She stopped. The sound of the pencils’ lead getting crushed against the desk wasn’t pleasing anymore. She was supposed to be doing deskwork, looking over reports, battle strategies and other minor things during this time, but whenever she tried to look over them, her mind would just wander off.

Takamachi Nanoha was in a bad mood. The day before, she had had a rather large fight with Fate. It ended with the former leaving the house slamming the door and going out on a mission without even saying goodbye. Vivio wasn’t doing very well in school and she was barely around the house these days to be able to easily solve them. The recruits she was supposed to be training were in a horrible state and she had a very long way to go until they would reach a decent rank. All the stress had piled up in the last few days and lead to the inevitable current state. It annoyed her.

Closing her eyes, the only thing the girl wished for at that moment was for a bright red screen to appear in front of her and the alarm to sound in her ears telling her to deploy out for a mission. She couldn’t stand the sight of the office anymore and just wanted to be given something to do that would take her mind off of things.

Nanoha opened her eyes. She was still in the dull office which she rarely visited. A few buttons were pressed on the floating keyboard and a new screen popped up instantly. She was supposed to have a training session with the recruits in one standard hour. She would never get all the work done and she was definitely not in the mood to put up with the trainees too much. The least she could do was speed up things to get it all over with quicker.

Typing another few commands on the keyboard and receiving a confirmation reply, Nanoha got up from her desk. She touched the crimson jewel that hung from the chain on her neck and brought it in front of her face.

“Raising Heart, are you ready?”

[“Yes, my master.”] the mechanical voice replied automatically.



Nanoha took a deep breath. In front of her stood approximately sixteen rookies, men and women alike in battle uniforms, all arranged in perfect formation and with their training devices in hand listening contently to her every word. Thick storm clouds poured gallons of water over them and they were already soaked. Thunder and lightning alike mixed in the background and the girl had to speak louder than usual to make herself heard over the raging storm.

“Today, we are going to be training your reaction times in critical environmental conditions. It is vital for a soldier to be able to act at full capacity even in the most hazardous of climates.” She said almost absently, words coming out by themselves. Griping Raising Heart tighter she continued. “Alright everybody, set out!”



About one hour later.

Yagami Hayate was sitting comfortably on the chair from her office listening to the continuously flowing rain while looking over a few papers casting an aye now and then over the writing. It would have been a peaceful evening had not a floating monitor appeared above her desk with Shamal’s worried face on it.

“Hayate-chan! We have a problem!” The blonde woman began before the girl could say a thing. Her attention wasn’t fixed on the screen anymore though. Another screen popped up telling her she had received a message. Reading the message while listening to Shamal, her mind managed to register key words from both sources of information and mix them together to get the full view of the situation.

“…Medical supplies are running low, dozen of people with high fevers and severe magical damage, complete annihilation of the training grounds, irreplaceable damage, extensive repair…”

“Shamal, what happened?!” Hayate asked, now alarmed. Had they been attacked? She hadn’t received word of such a thing. She should have been the first to know. Shamal sighing in front of her didn’t help calming her.

“Nanoha-san was… in a bad mood.”

The night was dark, the moon was meerly shingin us with her light, like counting the minutes left to go to our first mission, I must admit that I was really nervous, Karil, Alphonse, Helga and even Jasper were nervous too, we were waiting in one room of a control point in the old streets of Rome, I was sitted in a little chair with Karil at my side, Helga was checking the amo of her gun, Alphonse and Jasper were just stand in the middle of the room like thinking in lots of things, like me.

The door opened, and in the room enter Sky Lightning, one of my teachers, and also something like my second parent. "Is it time" He said, we all walked to the exit and get inside the Knights Carriage, a big black vagon pulled by 6 black horses, we all sitted and it started to move, the location of our final task was an old and abandonaded orphanate, hell I hate orphanates, places filled with suffer and cryes, I don't like them.

"What do you think we will face?" Alphonse finally broke the ice

"Are you scare dear Alphonse?" Helga never waste a chance

"N... No, well... just a bit..."

"Relax, all will be O.K" Jasper as always with his optimism "Plus, Lord Sky come with us, and there is no Slave of the Dark abalible to defeat him"

Sky only gave us a smile, but there I decide to talk

The vehicle stop, we knew the meaning of that

Before we start moving, I felt that Karil was holding my arm with strength "Vivio... I'm scare" she told me in low voice, I answer her "Don't worry, I'm too, but if we stand together we can do it"

"O.K" He said "Vivio, Karil and Jasper, go and check up stairs, the bedromms and the restrooms, Alphonse and Helga come with me to the lower level, if you see something uglier than a sick Cow, kill it.

We follow the orders of Sky, Jasper, Karil and I started to go up the stairs very slowly and the most silent we could, we reach the bedrooms, Jasper always go first inside the rooms, the breath of Karil was very hard and her hand was shaking, Jasper looked very calm, and I... well, if you think that I was scary by the tormented soul that we wshall have to face you are wrong, cause in that moment I was impacient to feed my vengance, to reduce the pain that had invading my soul all those years in the monastery. I wanted revenge, I wanted that they felt the pain that my father felt when he was killed, I wanted to killthem

"Shh... you listen that?" the words of Jasper interrupted my thoughs

"What? What is it?" Karil asked

I entered the dark room, it looks like a girls bedroom, near a bed, in the corner there was a small figure, I got close really slow with Jasper and Karil behind me, when I was gettting close I noticed that thefigure was like a little girl with long black hair, sitted in her knees, aparently with her hands covering her face, like cryng

"Mou..." a hand was placed on her hip and she gave her daughter a look mixed between a glare and helplessness. Finally she sighed out and started walking again. "Fine, fine, a few snacks won't hurt."

"Um... Thank you?" Vivio's eyes went to her feet, suddenly feeling bad about what happened. 'But Fate-mama said it was okay...' Her mental pep talk didn't work and she found herself scolded despite Nanoha not getting on to her for it.

"Fate-chan," Nanoha leaned against the counter in their apartment and crossed her arms. "I waited until Vivio was away so I'll say it now... Please don't go behind me when I try and teach her something."

"Eh?" Fate stopped putting away the groceries and looked over her shoulder. "What do you- oh." A small blush went over her cheeks. "It's because Nanoha-mama is so strict."

"I'm not strict, I'm proper." She countered. "If you keep spoiling her she will-"

"Grow up like Caro and Elio?" Fate shot back in a stern but still polite voice. The two mentioned were currently top ranked at their current jobs and living a happy life in the same house. "Or like Arf, who now even got a job in her adult form since she had a chance to grow up?"

Nanoha slowly chose the words. "Vivio isn't just yours."

"And she isn't just yours," Fate walked over to her wife and crossed her arms as well. "We've been over this."

"But you never listen!"

"I listen!"

"Then act like it!" Nanoha moved forward. "I'm sick and tired of my scolding her and you just going behind me and ruining the lesson I try and teach her!"

Fate glared. "You're so harsh; grounding her until her next report card won't make her study more."

"Yes it will!"

"Then why did she sneak out!?" Fate frowned at Nanoha's shocked look. "Yes, that's right, she snuck out. Because you are so rough on her." She poked Nanoha's chest. "Because you don't take the time to ensure that her learning is fun and not 'manditory'. Because you are always so 'proper' she started looking for ways to enjoy her life without you always being down her neck!" She sniffed at her. "Good thing I was there to make sure it didn't become a habit by allowing her to go out normally, where we knew she was, where we could contact her."

Nanoha leaned back on the counter. "She really...?"

"Yeah." Fate slowly softened up. "... Hey, I'm sorry..." Moving forward, she gave Nanoha a small hug that wasn't returned. "I yelled at you again."

"I'm used to it," Nanoha whispered lightly, finally hugging her back. "I keep screwing up."

"No one is perfect. Specially with a wild girl like Vivio." Fate took Nanoha's hands and squeezed them. "She's starting to see guys now, starting to want to get out and party, you know, the normal teenage things. At times like this we need to understand her and make sure she will come to us if she has a problem."

"And me being so...strict... prevents that, huh?" She looked down between them. "I just thought... she grew up so nice. Always polite, always on time... What happened?"

"She realized that she controlled her own life," Fate explained softly. "So she wanted to explore it. Limitations are nice, but we have to let her breathe more than we used to. We can't hold her hand crossing streets anymore... sometimes we just have to wave at her as she runs off to have fun."

"I guess... I could slack up a little?"

"You taught her very well. She won't forget the lessons we gave her as a child. We just need let her show us that we can trust her."

"But I do-"

"She doens't know." Fate soothed her. "We need to give her the chance. The ability to make the choice without going through one of us."

"How?"

"By starting small." Fate smiled. "How about we let her shop by herself next time?"

"But-"

"She's sixteen." Fate reminded the scared face. "And she took driver's education already. "Let's let her go, give her a list and some extra money. We'll see what she does."

"...Can I-"

"no, you can't fly above her and watch."

"But-" She stopped protesting when Fate thumped her nose. "Owie..."

"you have to let go sometime, Nanoha-mama."

"I don't want to..." She leaned up against Fate and fought back tears. "She's my little girl..."

"She will always be your girl," Fate spoke into her hair. "But she's turning into a big girl without you realizing it."

"...Yeah..."She gave a bittersweet smile. "She's so tall..."

"You're short." Fate laughed out her joke, resting her chin on the top of Nanoha's head

"Vivio?" Nanoha peeked into her daughter's room and saw her sitting on the bed with headphones on reading a magazine. Almost stepping in, she caught herself. "Um, may I come in?"

"Yes," Vivio looked shocked at the question, pulling the earcovers away and resting around her neck. "What is it, Mama?"

"Well," She sat on Vivio's bed. "Fate-mama and I were talking and... we decided to increase your allowance." She felt proud at the sudden happy look she was getting. "But," She held up a finger. "We are no longer going to buy things for you anymore... so... Use your money wisely and buy whatever you want."

"Anything?"

"Anything." Nanoha melted in the hug she just got.

"Thank you Nanoha-mama!" Vivio almost screamed out a laugh. "Anything? really? Chips, magazines, CDs, DVDs? Anything?"

Nanoha put a hand on her daughter's head. "Remember, if you spend it all on junk, you won't have enough money to go out with your friends to hte movies or the malls." Again she got a questioning look. "you're ungrounded, Vivio. You can take one of our cars if we don't need it for work... All you have to do is ask and come back when we tell you... okay?"

"Okay!" Vivio smiled brightly. "Thank you, Mama." Her expression changed slightly as she sat next to her and let her feet go over the side of her bed. "To be honest... I felt a little shut in sometimes," Nanoha took her hand and allowed her to continue. "But I promise, I'll be good and come back before curfew, and... And I'll spend my money wisely after I blow my first set on stuff I want, I promise!"

"Good," Leaning over, Nanoha kissed Vivio's temple. "I trust you."

"thanks... That means a lot to me, Nanoha-mama."

With another smile, she stood up and walked to the door. "I'm going to start dinner soon so be ready in about an hour-ish."

"Sure thing Mama!"

Slowly closing the door behind her, Nanoha looked up with tear filled eyes. "She's growing up so fast!"

"Aw, there there, Nanoha-mama." Fate hugged her. "Just think, soon she will be going on dates."

"Never." Nanoha stated firmly. "I'll starlight breaker anyone who touches her."

"no you won't." Fate countered her. "Because I would have Bardiche on them before that." The two looked at each other and gently giggled to themselves.

That was nice. It had a nice mood throughout the story and what Nanoha and Fate were talking felt very sincere and genuine. Although the last bit totally broke that mood! With a shake of her head she continued on her path through the aisle and putting only the items on her shopping list into the cart. 'I swear, that girl has a sweet tooth that puts Fate to shame. Honestly, all those snacks...I need to teach her how to shop properly within a budget.'

Vivio scuffled her foot across the floor as she turned and walked back the way she had come. "Jeez, I'm sixteen already, I can pick a few things out..." Sadly she put her fruit snacks back on the shelf. As she turned She looked at Fate, who was smiling at her happily.

"Let's..." She began, taking a few of Vivio's items top go pay out for on her own. "Keep this a secret from Mama, okay?"

"Fate-mama, thank you." She smiled brightly and allowed herself to be pet a few times. "You're the best!" The girl quickly ran back over to Nanoha while Fate made her get-away and smiled mischievously at her.

Nanoha blinked at her teenager and stopped pushing the buggy. "I don't like that look," she informed her uneasily. "That's the 'Fate-mama is doing something you told me not to' look isn't it?"

Vivio almost fell over. "Wha? you can't read me like that!"

"I raised you, I know your looks." Nanoha poked her nose. "Did you go behind my back again?" Her daughter swallowed thickly, starting to sweat. "Mou..." a hand was placed on her hip and she gave her daughter a look mixed between a glare and helplessness. Finally she sighed out and started walking again. "Fine, fine, a few snacks won't hurt."

"Um... Thank you?" Vivio's eyes went to her feet, suddenly feeling bad about what happened. 'But Fate-mama said it was okay...' Her mental pep talk didn't work and she found herself scolded despite Nanoha not getting on to her for it.

"Fate-chan," Nanoha leaned against the counter in their apartment and crossed her arms. "I waited until Vivio was away so I'll say it now... Please don't go behind me when I try and teach her something."

"Eh?" Fate stopped putting away the groceries and looked over her shoulder. "What do you- oh." A small blush went over her cheeks. "It's because Nanoha-mama is so strict."

"I'm not strict, I'm proper." She countered. "If you keep spoiling her she will-"

"Grow up like Caro and Elio?" Fate shot back in a stern but still polite voice. The two mentioned were currently top ranked at their current jobs and living a happy life in the same house. "Or like Arf, who now even got a job in her adult form since she had a chance to grow up?"

Nanoha slowly chose the words. "Vivio isn't just yours."

"And she isn't just yours," Fate walked over to her wife and crossed her arms as well. "We've been over this."

"But you never listen!"

"I listen!"

"Then act like it!" Nanoha moved forward. "I'm sick and tired of my scolding her and you just going behind me and ruining the lesson I try and teach her!"

Fate glared. "You're so harsh; grounding her until her next report card won't make her study more."

"Yes it will!"

"Then why did she sneak out!?" Fate frowned at Nanoha's shocked look. "Yes, that's right, she snuck out. Because you are so rough on her." She poked Nanoha's chest. "Because you don't take the time to ensure that her learning is fun and not 'manditory'. Because you are always so 'proper' she started looking for ways to enjoy her life without you always being down her neck!" She sniffed at her. "Good thing I was there to make sure it didn't become a habit by allowing her to go out normally, where we knew she was, where we could contact her."

Nanoha leaned back on the counter. "She really...?"

"Yeah." Fate slowly softened up. "... Hey, I'm sorry..." Moving forward, she gave Nanoha a small hug that wasn't returned. "I yelled at you again."

"I'm used to it," Nanoha whispered lightly, finally hugging her back. "I keep screwing up."

"No one is perfect. Specially with a wild girl like Vivio." Fate took Nanoha's hands and squeezed them. "She's starting to see guys now, starting to want to get out and party, you know, the normal teenage things. At times like this we need to understand her and make sure she will come to us if she has a problem."

"And me being so...strict... prevents that, huh?" She looked down between them. "I just thought... she grew up so nice. Always polite, always on time... What happened?"

"She realized that she controlled her own life," Fate explained softly. "So she wanted to explore it. Limitations are nice, but we have to let her breathe more than we used to. We can't hold her hand crossing streets anymore... sometimes we just have to wave at her as she runs off to have fun."

"I guess... I could slack up a little?"

"You taught her very well. She won't forget the lessons we gave her as a child. We just need let her show us that we can trust her."

"But I do-"

"She doens't know." Fate soothed her. "We need to give her the chance. The ability to make the choice without going through one of us."

"How?"

"By starting small." Fate smiled. "How about we let her shop by herself next time?"

"But-"

"She's sixteen." Fate reminded the scared face. "And she took driver's education already. "Let's let her go, give her a list and some extra money. We'll see what she does."

"...Can I-"

"no, you can't fly above her and watch."

"But-" She stopped protesting when Fate thumped her nose. "Owie..."

"you have to let go sometime, Nanoha-mama."

"I don't want to..." She leaned up against Fate and fought back tears. "She's my little girl..."

"She will always be your girl," Fate spoke into her hair. "But she's turning into a big girl without you realizing it."

"...Yeah..."She gave a bittersweet smile. "She's so tall..."

"You're short." Fate laughed out her joke, resting her chin on the top of Nanoha's head

"Vivio?" Nanoha peeked into her daughter's room and saw her sitting on the bed with headphones on reading a magazine. Almost stepping in, she caught herself. "Um, may I come in?"

"Yes," Vivio looked shocked at the question, pulling the earcovers away and resting around her neck. "What is it, Mama?"

"Well," She sat on Vivio's bed. "Fate-mama and I were talking and... we decided to increase your allowance." She felt proud at the sudden happy look she was getting. "But," She held up a finger. "We are no longer going to buy things for you anymore... so... Use your money wisely and buy whatever you want."

"Anything?"

"Anything." Nanoha melted in the hug she just got.

"Thank you Nanoha-mama!" Vivio almost screamed out a laugh. "Anything? really? Chips, magazines, CDs, DVDs? Anything?"

Nanoha put a hand on her daughter's head. "Remember, if you spend it all on junk, you won't have enough money to go out with your friends to hte movies or the malls." Again she got a questioning look. "you're ungrounded, Vivio. You can take one of our cars if we don't need it for work... All you have to do is ask and come back when we tell you... okay?"

"Okay!" Vivio smiled brightly. "Thank you, Mama." Her expression changed slightly as she sat next to her and let her feet go over the side of her bed. "To be honest... I felt a little shut in sometimes," Nanoha took her hand and allowed her to continue. "But I promise, I'll be good and come back before curfew, and... And I'll spend my money wisely after I blow my first set on stuff I want, I promise!"

"Good," Leaning over, Nanoha kissed Vivio's temple. "I trust you."

"thanks... That means a lot to me, Nanoha-mama."

With another smile, she stood up and walked to the door. "I'm going to start dinner soon so be ready in about an hour-ish."

"Sure thing Mama!"

Slowly closing the door behind her, Nanoha looked up with tear filled eyes. "She's growing up so fast!"

"Aw, there there, Nanoha-mama." Fate hugged her. "Just think, soon she will be going on dates."

"Never." Nanoha stated firmly. "I'll starlight breaker anyone who touches her."

"no you won't." Fate countered her. "Because I would have Bardiche on them before that." The two looked at each other and gently giggled to themselves.

Impressive. Because at the same time as I love Fate and Nanoha as a pairing, they're sort of completely different when it comes to parenting styles. At least you've managed to help them find a happy medium, because Vivio is going to be a wild child when she grows up.

"Hold it!" Nanoha hopped off the back of the couch and jogged over to Vivio, who looked like a deer caught in headlights. "And where are you going dressed like that?"

Vivio looked down at her attire. A dark miniskirt that just begged to flash her pitch black panties, hooker boots that zipped up to her knees with spiked heels, fishnet fingerless gloves that hugged her arms to her shoulders, a shirt that showed off her stomach that had glittery body lotion on it, and finally two loose belts that criss-crossed loosely around her hips. "Um... To the party?" She tried lamely. "I asked you and you said I could go..."

"Not dressed like that," Nanoha scolded her. "You look like you're offering yourself! What if someone hits on you? Are you ready to deal with that kind of situation?"

Vivio almost fell over. "I... I kind of want someone to hit on me.... I'm single, you know."

"That's even worse!" Nanoha threw out her arms. "I was young too, and I know if I saw someone wearing that it would totally send signals to me that you wanted sex! Where in the world did you get those clothes!?"

At that moment Fate walked in their apartment, smiling happily at Vivio. "Oh! So some of my old clothes in the closet fit you after all!" She turned to Nanoha. "you should clean your side out too, if she can wear my old things then she could probably fit in...Why are you looking at me like that?"

Nanoha slowly face palmed. "...I thought that looked a little familiar."

Vivio took the opertunity to run out the door

Um.... no where rally

I got lunch, sat down, started nibbling my philly cheese sub and was like "hey, ya know what? *chew chew* I think Vivio should dress up in something and have Nanoha stop her *swallows, chugs mountain dew, writes* and... Let's put Fate in there for good measure.... *post, finishes lunch*"

Challenge? Teenage!Vivio? I don't have time right now but I might do something at next break depending if I can or not. Kinda busy today and my left wrist is killing me for some reason @_@
