Now that I think about it...

Well, have you seen how many times he's gotten hit in the head? And he just swallowed how many explosions? Something must have knocked the loose screws back in place.

His Erza is in danger - Natsu no otouto to the rescue~ Dah dada DAAH~! Also Mashima, stop teasing me with NatsuxErza... The color art on the front didn't help me either... I know you prefer ErzaxJellal too and yet you do these mean things to me.

Okay, quick rundown:

Natsu's always been decently intelligent. He's just usually either not in a position to put it to use, or too hotheaded to put it to use.

Those "stats" are entirely meaningless. Those are from Jason's pamphlet on the Grand Magic Games, with things like 6 out of 5s, and a joke category different for each person. All in all it's something that's just for fun and shows what the in universe coverage of the Tournament would be, complete with the what knowledge/impressions the in universe character reporting on it would have.

In short, those are a parody, not serious stats.

As for an in-universe explanation, I imagine that the stats were what Jason remembered them as prior to the timeskip. Otherwise, looking at them, there's no way that Laxus could have beaten Jura, much less Natsu taking out both Sting AND Rogue.

Natsu is similar to Luffy in the battle aspect - he can turn into a near-genius on occasion.

I have to say…this was one of the best FT chapters I've read in a while.
It's weird how Mashima can do a great job with build-up. Let's just hope that it stays this way.

That was kind of a bad call to send Elfman and Lissana as a duo against a Tartaros demon, considering one of these guys alone took out the Raijinshuu easily and almost beat Laxus. I'm guessing that this might somehow result in a powerup for Elfman; something to do selling his soul and Elfman's beast soul magic maybe. I don't see them winning this fight though.

Love Mirajane's new outfit Also really liked the Oracion Seis scene.

As for Natsu, I wouldn't call him intelligent but he's generally been known to have superior instincts compared to anyone else so far. I'm not surprised that it occurred to Natsu, only a little disappointed that no one else figured it out sooner. It was kinda obvious that for Tartaros to know the secret locations they had to have someone in the council or one of the council was a traitor.
