Kick-ass ep! The plot's really getting rolling now with what look's like a fairly long arc & exciting arc. And here I expected most events to happen in Ushio's hometown.

The hype is real.

Even so far though, I didn't feel as if any episode was wasted. The Monster of the Week episodes did a good job at building up the relationship between Ushio & Tora a bit, among other things. Mappa did the same with Garo and it worked out great, IMO.

Ep 07

Okay - the plot thickens and levels up. That was a really engaging ep...everything suddenly developed extra levels of depth storytelling-wise.

Color me interested! ^^

You just stole the words from my keyboard
Now that the main plot is going to start i'm curious to know which techniques Ushio is going to develop. I think the "growing hair" thing alone is not going to be enough against high level Youkais or Exorcists like his father.

Interesting direction that things were going in. I guess this will take most of the familiar side characters out of the focus for a while and really keep an eye on Ushio and Tora. They've used the bond that was made up with those two over the past few episodes to carry them onto this journey.

Going to be a pretty complicated situation. I wonder if it's something like the big villain was sealed in the body of Ushio's mother and thus she was basically dead in the sense that she couldn't go back home. And now that the seal is probably done for, maybe she's been overtaken. Random thought.

Next episode...The Sky Yokai..

Wondor if it'll be 3D or 2D animated, but it should be one of the creepier monster to be animated.

But it is good to see that the experience in the Garo Anime with the fight scene and Yokai creepiness working for Ushio and Tora

Episode 8:

Pretty good episode.

It featured battles in the sky against a youkai. Ushio, Tora, and that girl worked quite well in the end imo to survive. I also found it funny at how Tora "taunted" Ushio to save the plane lol. And the fight itself was also entertaining too.

The episode has a tiny foreshadowing so I'm interested to see what else is to come soon. Should be fun.

This is creepy though

just saw the episode. i'm disappointed, not because of the episode, but looking from the preview, it looks like they're skipping the arc where they introduced sendai, the heretic monk, and going straight into the arc with the sickle or blade youkai. as someone who has read the manga i was hoping they wouldn't do any major cuts, but now i'm a bit worried

Any cut is done by the origional author, as he's also a part of the anime team now.

i'm aware that the original author is part of the anime team, and i knew and understood why they had to make cuts. But still, the cuts makes me feel like the story is a little incomplete. every episode i find myself passively noting the scenes from the manga that were cut from the anime.

That was a bad sign. Despite being the same length, it felt like more was cut out of this story than compared to the Ayakashi story.
We barely got to know Yuu and Atsuzawa. The fight scenes were over before you knew it.

They have to cut something. And this gives an idea of what's getting cut during the road trip. Because if even he got the boot, I can guess which other characters aren't going to be appearing as well.

This is bad, this is real bad.

Pretty mixed feelings here. Most parts were as good as ever, but everything with the two minor characters (pilot and girl) was ...ugh.

I didn't mind the minor characters, I'm just more amazed Ushio could bring a spear on a plane. I wonder why Fusuma was cut from the OVAs.... Not matter, next episode has the slice-happy weasel siblings aka the last story of the manga the OVAs covered.

Well, you have to remember that the serie was writted in the 90s, and he's only doing a travel within Japan, and sent the spear as checked luggage, as it's also Japan, so it's probabely not that rare to have artifact/weapon being sent around.

I don't know, maybe wait to see where the adaption is going before we start calling it crap?

Anyway I thought the episode was pretty good. It didn't feel rushed at all. Hakumen no Mono must be one fearsome beast.

i don't know how you think they weren't going to do major cuts. The author is squishing the whole story into 39eps. The surprise would be if there were no major cuts.

Episode 9:

Well, that was quite an intense episode of feelings especially against humans by the Kamitachi siblings.

Then again, it's driven by their past so....

Nice episode though. I like how Ushio played a critical role to help out the Kamaitachi siblings. Action was nice too! I think it's understandable in some ways that they harbor hate for the humans although their black and white view is a bit to the extreme, especially for Juurou.
