However... The contrast between Tastuki's abrasiveness and Orihime's bubbliness had a nice balance that worked really well. I found all of their scenes together to be very sweet and endearing. It made me want more. Sadly Kubo has dropped the ball on that one. Utterly.

As much as I love IchiRuki, RenRuki x IshiOri in the end wouldn't be disappointing. I just don't see a chance.
I can't agree it depends only on the person which character you like. I hate to say it, but shipping plays a role quite often. I try not to let it get over me but I hate Ichigo for standing in the way of IshiOri Other than this, I'm his fangirl and I'll always be. So even if he annoys me sometimes for being so awesome and making Orihime love him, I adore him. Yeah, I suck at expressing myself. Bubbly girls are fun. I love them. I love that aspect of Orihime's personality. I just don't find her naivete cute or how she looks like a damsel in distress beautiful. Neither I find how asinine and immature she is adorable. I think she should grow up and I'd like to see her tougher but NOT less bubbly. I wouldn't like it if she loses her imagination, she just needs a reality check..

The part I dislike of Orihime is her passive acceptance of everything that happens.
When Rukia was about to be executed she got the blues for a while but she finally snapped out of it. Orihime just accepted her role as a powerless damsel in distress. I know they gave her the role of the healer, but nonetheless character-wise she isn't capable of standing up for herself. When trouble comes, she mentally surrenders and depends on Ichigo all the way. |

she didn't surrender when Tatsuki got taken over by that Hollow
she didn't surrender when she took out those two Shinigami while Ishida was whining in SS she didn't surrender to that the Shinigami on the rooftop that Ishida ultimately took out for good. she didn't surrender when Mayuri showed up, though Ishida had the one Shinigami take her away from the fight none of which she was depending on Ichigo... |
