Here's the thing though. Would Washington trade him though? RG3's running of the option and the pistol offence has caused him to be more susceptible to injury or missing the odd game. They might need a backup in case. There's 2 games he might have missed but didn't and there was the one this weekend he did miss. Hope it isn't a long term necessity, but until RG3 expands his arsenal, the danger aspect of his playstyle may warrant having a decent backup ready to go. But, if it allowed Washington to fill a deficient spot in return, particularly on defense, I guess they'd go for it.

Unless someone offers them a first round pick, I doubt he'll be traded until at least 2015 (contract year).
And it's not so much of RGIII needing to expand his arsenal (he throws much more than he runs, in fact the play he got injured was his only run of the game), it's Washington needing to shore up that OL. If you can't ensure protection of your QB to a relatively safe degree, then you need a suitable backup. It's hard to get those, so they're usually drafted with hopes they can play well, and if not, they're at least cheap. That's why I'm leaning towards "First rounder or hold until contract year" kind of thing, since once he's a FA he'll definitely start somewhere, or at least be one of the better and well paid backups out there. |

It amazes me how much attention the Jets have gotten this season. Yes I know Tebow is on the team, but so what. He doesn't even play and the media still feels obligated to care like it's an interesting story. The Jets weren't nearly as popular even when they were winning under Pennington or Testaverde. The Jets now are just as popular as the Giants despite being terrible.

Jets will look into trading away Sanchez' contract this offseason. Tebow will be gone, too.
