Even though it wasn't long, the fight between Sabito vs Tanjirou was amazingly animated.
I find the training kinda funny to watch until the big rock came. An important episode this week for sure considering it showed Tanjirou and his training. Not easy to become a demon slayer after all.

I remember reading that bit in the manga thinking "...You just blew my tiny little mind away..."
Would've been nice if there was more of a backstory presented with the boulder siblings during the episode but if I recall the manga doesn't really explain them at the time either and it probably would've made the episode rushed had they done so which is a shame because I thought they were rather interesting.

I only went here to see an explanation for those two, looks like I won't get any, not only that, she also said that there were many others like them! I wonder what happened to them.

It's quite implausible that Tanjirou would be literate given his station and the historical period.
How has Nezuko received nourishment during her long coma? Does her demon side make it unnecessary for her to eat and drink? Does Tanjirou not age physically in the manga? It's been two years or more, yet he looks no more mature now than he did at the beginning.

Someone suggested Nezuko was sleeping to save energies, since she didn't eat people in the previous episode, but she may still need some "food" |

That was a great training episode.
2 years went by already, with Nezuko sleeping through them while her brother was training like crazy. I'm guessing Sabito and Makomo were ghosts too. Maybe we'll get an explanation next week.

As far training arcs and whatnot goes this was merciful short and even if I dare say interesting, mainly the part when the mysterious children who took over Sakonji. Next is final selection exam, I guess Tanjiro will be fighting actual demons which why there is a risk of death. Last edited by Applehell; 2019-04-20 at 22:13. |

As for Tanjirou's physical growth, even in the manga his face didn't change much, only his height growing from only reaching Urokodaki's shoulder to reaching Urokodaki's ear. The story about the two will be explained in the next episode. |

Like Enzo, I also thought this story takes place much earlier than the Taisho era. But even the masthead graphic at Crunchy for episode one shows the electric poles. Once the story moves to a rural setting it could be any time.

I gotta say, if the first episode of Tanji's interaction with Giyu reminded me of similar interaction between Gon & Kite in HxH, this episode with Tanjiro, Makomo & Sabito reminded me of Naruto, Haku & Zabuza in terms of their chemistry and their encounters in the earlier part of both sagas to help the MCs grow.
Probably because of the rural setting. Sometimes, advancement in technology is not evenly-spread throughout a country (even to this very day). As for the literary thing, Tanji is implied to be a good friend/helper of the people in town who own businesses which safe to say are more than capable to read and write. Maybe, just maybe, they taught him a thing or two for god knows how long since he didn't seem to mind staying outside during his selling-trip for a day or two.

For me it's case of ignorance is bliss I suppose. I'm completely unfamiliar with the various Japanese "eras" and the history of their technological advancement so I had no preconceptions to get confused with. XP
