Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu is just plain funny (but it might not be as funny if you don't watch the serious prequel).
The Melancholy Haruhi Suzumiya is also really funny, especially due to the narration. But it also has some philosophy about reality, the universe and stuff.

Potemayo.... One of the hidden gems.
Also Sketchbook might turn out to be decent in this genre. Aria (Animation and Natural series) might not be as comedic, but is an extremely relaxing and light-hearted slice-of-life series. Give them a shot If you want to go back to deep, I suggest Seirei no Moribito. |

Kyou no Go no Ni is by the same creator as Minami-ke. Was pretty funny, though too short lived.

Edit: "slice of life bit" eh... check out anything by KyoAni: Air, Kanon, Clannad... then Myself; Yourself and ef a tale of memories. If you don't mind a little romance check out Kimikiss Pure Rogue and maybe Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun I haven't seen Mokke... but apparently thats the most original "supernatural" series which makes "the supernatural a natural, everyday part of our regular lives"(Newtype USA). Is that not "slice of life" enough for you :P

I'm seconding the Manabi Straight reccommendation especially, since I group it in those shows generally, and I also second the recommendation of Potamayo. Both of hose might be some of the best stuff to come out in 2007 and went under a lot of radar.
Pani Poni Dash would be good too. Also, it's a lot more serious of a show, but Haibane REnmei might not be far off for you. |

Pani Poni Dash - Random things are random. King of reference (I still don't get even 1/2 of it. Luckily there are wikis filling up the information)
Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan - Might be a bit extreme but give it a try, you might like it. I know I did Seto no Hanayome - Well it's a school life comedy but +Mermaid

If you want something light, funny, stupid and random with romance try Love Hina , but I can't gurantee the "clean" part (the main protagonist often finds himself in a perverted situation although he doesn't try to get in it). It's pretty funny, too bad the anime stopped before the manga did. The anime didn't have a proper ending like the manga did =(.
1st season= Love hina 2nd season(not really just a few episodes)= Love hina again They should make a 3rd season sense the manga goes on alot further. |
